Would you be interested in a trade package with the bears to grab hester?
Hester could play WR if stallworth leaves, and the bears could go after stallworth in the FA.

If the bears are known for their defense then surely the bears might have something that the pats might want.

I would love to see hester tear it up in a patriots uniform.
The pats could grab hester and a bunch of next years round 2 and 3 and stock up. Man just the thought of URLACHER in a patriots uniform would be so sweet.

I want the Patriots to trade Kyle Eckel for Adrian Peterson and Wesly Britt for Joe Thomas. Then I want both players to sign 10 year deals at veteran minimum. After that I want to trade Willie Andrews for Ed Reed, Alexander for Willis, Woods for Ware, Gay for Champ Bailey...

Thats what I want...

First, the Bears wouldn't make that trade, because Hester provides too much value to that team, much more than Stallworth would. Until Chicago gets its QB situation right, Randy Moss wouldn't help him. Isn't that right, Al Davis? Why would the Bears trade their only scoring threat on the team?

The Patriots probably wouldn't make that trade, because Hester is a one-dimensional player. Is he good enough over plan B to dedicate a decent share of the cap to, as opposed to a guy like Chad Jackson or Ellis Hobbs, who play elsewhere in the offense, or a rookie specialist, who would be much cheaper. I also have a hard time separating Hester's success from the rest of the Chicago return teams. There's definitely a symbiotic relationship, but it sure seems that on Hester's big returns, the gunners get eradicated and he's gets an open fifteen yards to set himself up for a big return. Finally, we can't use him in the offense. We tried the "You, run really fast in a straight line" approach with Bethel, and it really didn't suit us. And Moss and Jackson are faster anyway. Every single WR on our roster, including Bam Childress, is a better WR than Hester.

Exactly what I was thinking......

Hester is the ONLY Bear that can actually score. without him they are the Dolphins.

For what little it's worth, Hester'd still be on his rookie deal for another two years. That said, the Bears would have to be #@%(&@#$%ing insane to make that trade.

**** great plan! Maybe the colts will trade Manning to us for Meriweather and a box of oatmeal cookies! Manning can be Brady back up. Kill two birds with one stone! We have the best qb ever, backed up by the second best qb in the NFL! Not to mention the colts will lose all there games for the next 10 years without him!!!!!

This is Mesoslo's best thread since he suggested trading the #7 pick to Dallas for Owens and Barber.

Why stop there? How about we trade the seventh pick back to the 49ers for Willis, Davis and Smith. Hell Willis solves the lb issue. Davis solved the te issue , and Smith is just a little project to work on for the future.

Excellent reply that is exactly what I was thinking. I believe actually he suggested the #7 pick for both of Dallas' picks and either TO or Barber.

what about the 7th pick to the Titans for their first and the rights to Earl Campbell? maybe a 2nd round pick for billy Whiteshoes Johnson.

Its not like the bears invested heavily on hester, and its not like you need to mentor and train him for years to become a good kick returner.

If anything the bears should use hester as trade bait because of his on the field production. It only makes sense that you flip poo into gold.

Yeah ok hang on to hester have him loose value and take a chance because a kick return will win the bears a superbowl.

What about urclacher? We could be the top defense in the league if we grab him. Last year the bears went to the superbowl so why not trade hester and a few future picks for some real good top end talent to take you back to the big dance?

All good points, I like your spirit.

RB C Johnson of ECU is projected to be a Hester like return man in the NFL with his 4.2 speed. (But he could also turn out to be a Bethel Johnson as well.)

BB taking this guy is more likely than the Pats trading for Hester. How can Hester catch all kicks and yet not catch one ball when running a regular route?

the bears need to improve their running game. They went to the superbowl last year, this year they are ranked 29th in the league running, running and good defense go hand in hand, so with out a running game their defense took a hit, that is why they are not playing in the playoffs.

Hester can learn from welker if he was a patriot. The patriots can match any team in any faccet of the game except for the kick return.

Please Mesoslo, make up your mind and decide what you want the Pats to do with the pick. If you want them to draft Ryan or to trade for Hester or if you want them to trade for TO. Pick one option and run with it.

I cant make up my mind, the pats are picking in the top 7 in this year's draft their are so many suitors for this pick, and on top of that the pats might not even need this pick at all.

I want Urlacher man, if urlacher was a patriot that would be so sweet. Seriously with Urlacher on board or Ed reed on board and the pats sign moss they patirots could go 16-0 agian next year.

Urlacher would be a terrible 3/4 linebacker

Urlacher would be awesome espeically with BB coaching him. Look at Seau, he is pass his prime and he is playin great, Urlacher is still in his prime.

I've thought about how it would make sense for the Pats to trade for Hester as well.

Now I know everyone thinks the Bears are crazy to trade Hester, they never would, he's such a weapon, etc. Well, I had Hester on my fantasy team in a league that rewards for return yards. So I paid close attention to him.

The fact is more often than not teams don't even kick to Hester and his big play value is essentially negated.

I think if the Bears were offered the Pats #1 pick for Hester & draft pick(s) they would do it.
