Nice move. If he can get back to his Steelers days.

I'm guessing he's there as a warm body to help the D [sic].

Re: Oliver Ross Signs with Pats

It's a good choice because we don't have many tackles. Adding 1 more to back up or play is nice.

Re: Oliver Ross Signs with Pats

Is this a move of desperation?

Maybe having no pressure on him to perform will enable him to rebound.

Yep. Most NFL teams are desperate on June 2nd.

Don't forget Britt. Given that he has hung around for a couple of years now "in the program", I assume that someone believes he can do the job.

Re: Oliver Ross Signs with Pats

anyone else ever notice that when a new player signs on, the post are always split into "he's to old, he sucks" or "great sign, should help" is was even that way with Moss. Has anyone came on that we all just agreed on?

Re: Oliver Ross Signs with Pats

ok, here is my opinion on this signing, and every other that came before and will come after. I dont care how old a player is, or what he has done on previos teams, if the patriots think they are good enough to sign on, thats ok by me. I dont care how you were then, show me what you got now.

for instance, I think J.P losman is the 3rd worst qb to ever play in the nfl (that ive sceen) but if the pats signed him on as a back up, id want to see what he can do now, and I wouldnt care about how much he sucked it up on the bills.

Re: Oliver Ross Signs with Pats

Veteran depth on the cheap. At best, he becomes a valuable insurance policy at OT. At worst, he is washed up and cut before the season.

Typical Pats signing for this time of year.

Re: Oliver Ross Signs with Pats

No, at worst he gets hurt in training camp and the Pats are on the hook for his entire salary. See Stableford, Dana.

I concur. Solid camp competition. More players that have a proven track record is always a good thing.

    Camp competition/insurance

He might be better than Britt, or not.
