I hope Clayton. Don't think we need a 5th rb. Hell, we're barely using 3.

    Interesting..

I would expect that Moore or Clayton to be released.

I looked up some old threads on him and found some practice video: Monday: South WR vs. DB 1-on-1 - Rivals.com Video He's shown at 1:17, 1:49 and 2:09.

The third clip he gets beat easily to the inside. The predraft analysis had him with fast straight away speed, but not much agility. I'd be cautious to use him in the slot if the Pats can help it

Could be that BB wants an extra CB for the Packers game in 2 weeks

FWIW, Ian R. doesn't think Wilhite is headed to IR. He says if so, Wilhite hasn't been informed of it. Interesting.

Then I'd agree with the others above - probably Clayton is the odd man out.

I'm glad to see some depth added to the secondary, and I agree we'll need it vs. Green Bay - but even this week we'll be tested by some quick WRs. Jackson seems more like a slot corner to me.

Dammit! I hadn't gotten there yet but I was fast approaching some kind o comment with "Chevis" and "Regal" in it!!

    Well done, shmess!

Now, should he become a favorite target in a game or get burned on a long play, the announcers could say, "Looks like Chevis is on the rocks!" or "Aaron Rodgers is slamming some Chevis tonight!"

This thing with Spikes being out two days in a row for non-injury related injuries plus this signing now makes me nervous. Why the delay in announcing the other move?

All due respect, he is the opposite. My draft guide lists him as a 4.52 combine, but claims that some workouts had been worse. Jackson's biggest weakness is straight line speed. However, he is explosive in short areas ( great vertical and broad jump numbers ) and could be good in the slot ( excellent 3 cone numbers ). Further, Jackson is smart, tough, hard working and experienced ( lined up regularly against top SEC wideouts at LSU ). Jackson is purely a cover 2, zone CB. ( or slot ) Could provide value in that role.

I should have added that he is very strong against the run and a very good tackler, similar to Kyle Arrington.

"Chevis is a zone style DB, but he does have excellent bump and run abilities because he is strong. Inside the red zone, he will be able to handle those tall receivers one on one. The thing about Chevis is that his talent might be 3rd round talent, but his football intelligence is 1st round all the way and he can impact for you as a situational player right away because of that."

Sounds like a zone type player, could be a decent 4th/5th CB for us. Sounds intelligent too which is what BB likes. Limited athletically but as long as he is in the right place and doing his assignment he should be ok. Maybe he'll turn into a Randall Gay type player for us. Or at least we can hope!

Chevis Jackson is a good pick up for the Pats stretch run and maybe the playoffs - a big tough corner (6' - 200lbs) who was a special teamer with the Falcons. It was ridiculous seeing Danny Woodhead make a tackle on special teams against Jest. He should not be out there colliding with bigger guys on punts and kickoffs. Jackson is apparently slow - not the cover corner one would like - but a big tough guy who handle TEs in the dime and match up with the slower stiffs the Pats see the rest of the way.
