Around midseason in 09 I thought he was coming around and get back to that impact player that he was. Now after all the fuss about him coming in late, acting like a rebel in the locker room, I hope he stays at least to come in when needed, rather than play every down. Sorta play his strenghts when its the situation arises. He's not a bad player, we all remember some plays like sacking Favre (jets) and RB at the same time in the 08 season.

There is no cap this year- so the "cap hit" is basically meaningless.
Whether he is better than what you can get in the draft is speculation unless you have a crystal ball. I'm guessing you don't.
Ending up on the Jets? If they cut him he'll likely be in New York. Trade him and you determine where he ends up. There might not be alot of teams willing to take the chance considering his punk B attitude, but all it takes is one. So trade him for a 6th or 7th round pick as any value is better than none and stick him somewhere in the NFC or at least out of the AFC East.
Lastly you think Belichick should make amends to AD? Really? This was a joke, right? I think you have it backwards, but I don't see it happening in either case.

This. There's no benefit to cutting him now, and the team doesn't have to do anything for months. So you see if you can get value for him before the draft, see how the draft shapes up, and wait until training camp to see where things stand. There's simply no need to rush any decision on Adalius.

And I don't think the point about the cap hit matters with an uncapped year coming.

Why would we keep AD, who has been a pain, and cut TBC, who has quietly done his job without any fuss?

I say trade AD and keep TBC. Who is playing the Jets this year, that has realistic hopes of making the playoffs, and can use a pass-rushing specialist like AD?

It is probably still the right thing to move on, but since all the money is already sunk into Adalius there is no urgency to release him early.

I don't believe there is a credible trade market for Adalius because he is overpaid. If Brandon Marshall is worth a 2nd rounder and Anquan Boldin is worth a 3rd rounder... then Adalius Thomas is worth exactly nothing in a trade unless we trade with Seattle for Deion Branch where we are essentially exchanging toxic contracts and I don't see that happening.

We'll cut or keep Adalius based on how he performs in our training camp. I'd personally make him run a lot of laps.

That's an example of what I'm talking about. One may believe that after training camp/preseason last year BB had enough faith in guys like Green, Pryor, etc to trade Seymour. If he sees enough this year at OLB maybe AD is gone too, but I'd be suprised if he's moved before preseason before we find another option(s).

People keep saying this. First, keeping him costs his 5.5 million dollar salary. Second, he sucks. Who cares if he goes to the Jets? Let him suck there for $5.5 mil.

It is possible that when the Owners and Players agree to start playing again in 2011, that they may not just wipe the slate clean

...that is if the Patriots just let Adalius go now...perhaps they make the PATS account for that prorated portion of his roster bonus in 2011 or 2012


There is no guarantee from the league that his prorated bonus portion will just disappear for cap purposes
