Did anyone catch the part where Goodell told how they confiscated the
    Camera at the Jets game?

He said his people ... not the Jets took the camera.
Then some reporter asked .. are NFL people always
policing games ... he side stepped the question and
    never gave a response.
Goodell did say Jets people told his people about the PATs camera man
    illegally taping.
But the question remains .... do NFL people routinely go to these games
to do police work? If not why were they there? Were they called in advance
of the game? Sounds like it could have been a setup starting with memo
    perhaps.

I can't answer the larger question, but I believe NFL Security is present at every game.

He said that NFL security attend most games, he did answer, just kind of stumbled a little but he did say they're there most games.

    Accurate.

And of course they were set up by the Jets. Coaches were waving at the camera throughout the process, for years. So people knew it was going on. I'm sure the league did too. So why did this all go down in a Jets game, where there is legitiamate hatred between the organizations? Is that some coincidence? Not a chance.

I caught the stumbling part and just seem he was falling over his words
there and his facial expression changed ... just seemed like he was caught
with his hand in the cookie jar.

    That's exactly what I think.

Why do we have to turn everything into a conspiracy theory? With so few games on during the week would it really shock any of you to find out that the NFL has officials and security at every game?

    From a 9/12 article:

New details came to light on Tuesday. The cameraman, wearing a team polo shirt under the league-mandated sideline photographer's vest, was stopped by security as he tried to enter the New England locker room before halftime, sources said. An animated discussion ensued, involving league security, Jets security and Patriots security.

The dispute, which occurred in the bowels of the stadium, lasted more than an hour, virtually the entire second half. At one point, it became so heated that New Jersey state troopers were summoned as a precaution, a source said. The Jets apparently were trying to confiscate the videotape, which wound up in the possession of NFL security. The tape was placed in a box, sealed and forwarded to the league.

Well I think you had to see his reaction. If he had answered and that way
with out stumbling over his words and seeming evasive .... it would not have
    caught my attention.
Have you ever ask a question to someone who had something to hide and
looks for the right words? This is how he seemed to react. IMO

After watching the tapes from today, with most of the coach taping coming from the upper deck, I want to know how what the Patriots did differs from what Mangini admitted doing last year.

I thought the clear differentiation is that the Pats did it from the sideline, but that was only true of the Jets game, apparently.

How is this any different than what the Jets admitted doing?

Also, it's obvious to me now why the Patriots went to the sideline to do it. Anyone that has held a video camera knows that when you zoom in, the slightest hand movement is magnified by 10x the amount of the movement. That's why Walsh's camerawork seemed so shaky.

When you tape something, the closer you are to the action, the steadier the shot. That's why it's much much better to tape from the sidelines. Some of those videotapes from the rafters were practically useless. I'm sure people let Walsh know that his camerawork was absolutely sucky.

I have been suspicious of Goodell ever since I learned that he worked for the Jets. Then again, maybe I just have a suspicious mind.

All I have to say is PAYBACK IS A BIATCH. When that CBA needs to be renewed, don't expect the Pats to work with the Jets again to come up with an agreement. A BIG FU will be given to the league. Also, Goodell better enjoy his current position. I have a feeling that he won't be there for very long.

That is my whole question in what has happened today. Was the tape shown today made within the rules? Was it from an enclosed on threes sides enclosure?

This is what I have been screaming about from Day 1.

This whole thing was not coincidental. A memo is not enough for the league to justify ambushing the Pats.

If they intended to crack down on the Pats they owed the Pats a call.

    Not an ambush.

There is no logical defense for that taking place.

Again we are not talking about a camera that was disguised as a tree or hidden in any way.

It is clear that the Pats did not feel like they were either A. Breaking the rule as read. Or B. They did not feel like the league was going to ambush them at the gate.

If it was the JETS that ambushed them it is even more wrong.

That is like a player running on the field to stop a touchdown because the refs didn't make
    an obvious holding call.

That is not an acceptable way to catch another team.

An opposing team can report it to the league and then the league needs to go to the team and say hey if
you partake in this practice we are going to reserve the right to stop your employees and see what you are doing.

Or if the issue was just the videotaping then why did they have the right to stop a Patriots employee and see what they were taping.

    It makes no sense.

I am all for the Pats getting the 33rd pick next year and getting a 3rd rounder taked just like the cheating Niners had taken away for tampering with players and cheating on the salary cap. The Pats should have just signed Assante back deffered money and payed the 3rd round penalty.

Exactly. The Jets admitted it but they said they had permission. The Patriots said they did not. I would love to see good old Roger answer that and if the Patriots were asked if any other teams were suspected of doing this and if they had proof?

Goodell didn't sidestep the question. You just missed the answer. He said that the NFL does, routinely, have security at all games. This is to ensure that no video playing equipment is in the locker-rooms or coaching booths.

This article was WRONG. The tape was confiscated early in the 1st quarter. This was proven long ago.

    Are you sure?
Can you back up your statement?

Just saying that this is the version I found to be most credible. In fact it is the only version I have heard about the actual confrontation between Estrella and security

I agree about PAYBACK. I have been saying to all my friends and any one that will listen, that I can't wait to see the fury that the PATS unleash on the rest of the league. They thought offense was on display last season, HA this year the carnage will be awful.

I have been trying to follow along, it's tuff.

You said this version was proven wrong, I haven't seen that proof.

All I want to know is the truth!

Could you point a fellow NFL fan to a link, or expand your comment? Is this in the fact sheet website that I can not open the PDF to?

Instead of arguing facts ...FACTS...presented by Patriot fans on this PATRIOT BOARD...perhaps you could enlighten us as to how YOU felt when you KNEW Ratgenius-not completely BLEW your team's entire season and coached scared, ineffectually and unintelligently while YOU and the rest of your completely eaten alive by jealousy and rabid for any kind of scummy retribution at any cost Rat fan crew went completely beserk day after day ,week after week, month after month, besmirching Bill Belichick, Robert Kraft and the Patriot organization...on this board and boards across the region...when did it dawn on you, if it ever did, that you got played like a turn of the century rube at a carny sideshow hustle?

You've got some cheek playing stupid and claiming you "can't open this .pdf" and continuing to promulgate and foster this sense that the Patriots somehow did something that is so wrong that we, the loyal Patriot fans, need YOU, a follower of the biggest stool pigeon rat ba$tard scum in sports history to set US straight.

We'll see you on the field this fall and THEN we'll see how smart your big mouth is. Good luck...you'll need it with Shatttered China-armington tossing wobble ducks five yards past the LOS.
