Great pick, he still needs to learn a lot but he'll be able to sit back and take notes from the veterens this season. Eventually he'll be a stud.

The only concerns I have about him is the size and inability to shed blocks... He needs to put on about 10 lbs. And he probably needs to be coached up on his hand technique so he doesn't get stuck in the yard trash before he gets to the ballcarrier. I do like the idea of having an ILB that has some range and speed. Could be a young version of Al Wilson? I'd take that.

I have to think they knew one or the other would already be gone. That tells me they value them pretty equally.

I'm at work and it's really busy right now. I'm so excited about Mayo. But, what did we get in return for swapping picks with N.O.?

What do you mean he needs to put on 10 lbs? He's 242. That's fine for the ILB position on the pats.

242 is perfect. And as far as the height? Zach Thomas, Dwight Freeney are just a couple names out there that excelled.

Love the pick!! Athletic, instinctive, smart, reads QB's well and his motor is always running. Sounds perfect!!!! Forgot which analyst, might have been Kiper who says some had Mayo rated higher than Rivers. And let's see who we get with that 3rd round pick we swapped with NO when we moved down to get Mayo. They may use that to trade up in the 2nd round to get a CB.

Love the pick, he will be learning from some great ones in Bruschi and Vrabel.
You know what he said when asked how he will like going to New England "I have nowhere else to go" (how many can know were that came from).

The Patriots have identified an impact player with the physical skills to start right away. Now offenses have to worry about a player who can get to a spot on the field much faster than the middle LBers who played for us last year.

I love Bruschi and Junior, but the need to upgrade the position was overwhelming.

We finally got the Jonathan Vilma player we've coveted for so long.

Year after year i've been hoping for a high pick ILB ... knowing it wouldn't happen.
    Now it's happened.
    Whew !

Now we can spend the rest of the day watching for pigs that fly.

Seymour started the second game of his rookie season, against the Jets, IIRC. Apples and oranges though, because even though our LB's are old it's going to be a lot harder for Mayo to establish himself as a starter in his rookie season than it was for Seymour to do so back in 2001.

Belichick stated that the team doctors cleared him and he goes by what they say.

I dont think BB would take a shot in the dark if he was really unsure.
