    What is he talking about?

It's a standard 3-4. Wilfork at nose. Both DTs playing a 5-tech on the outside shoulder of the Offensive tackles. Two OLBs (Nink along with Carter (?) with his hand in the ground). Both of the offensive guards are left uncovered cause Mayo and Spikes are there to take them on.

    WTF Solomon?

A Bear front consist of a "T-N-T front," meaning the Offensive center and both Guards are being covered by the Nose and two DTs....along with two more defensive ends over the offensive tackles -- and also OLB shifted over the TE. No one on the line is left uncovered.

Solomon keeps saying it as if playing "5 across" automatically means its a Bear. That's not true. We've always kept our OLBs up on the line like that. It's a base 3-4

If you listen to those dumb azz announcers, you would think the Raiders were pounding the Pats. It is telling when they say 'We' when talking about the Raiders. Love when they called the Pats FG at the half, "the Raiders allowing the Pats back in the game".

    Wow, really?? :bricks:

Sometimes I listen to the local idiots on the radio, instead of the national idiots.

Today was one of those days.

It is truly APPALLING how lost, rambling, and persistently OBLIVIOUS to what's actually happening on the field he is...But if I shut him up and turn on the boob tube, I usually get some A Holes who hate the Patriots.

My b*tch this season on national commentators is how they make it sound like its one player playing offense. Personally, this year I think part of the reason for the higher passing yards has been the incredible play of the receivers. But to listen to those guys its all about Brady/Rogers etc.

My favourite was wilcots on brady's TD to branch within the space of 20 seconds.

"that was great coverage by rout brady just snuck that in there, great throw"

"look at the separation that throw was just to easy for brady"

Some coaches call their Double Eagle front a "Bear Front" for simplicity's sake.

However, with two 5 techs Solomon is dead wrong.

Agreed. If the Pats had the center and both guards covered; I'd get it. But that wasn't the case at all.

5 players on the line and 2 LB's. I'm trying to do the math.

Listening to him today brought back memories of Beasley Reece.

    It's 7. ;)

But oddly enough I'm pretty sure a Bear front stacks 8 in the box too. Cause you'd have a SS/LB hybrid (like RH possibly) playing down in the box. So Solomon was even more wrong...

I had to mute the game, my wife was wondering why I was screaming and she wasn't hearing any crowd noise....

I have the Sunday ticket and it is the greatest invention since sliced bread, but it also lets you hear, some of the crews that usually don't work Pats games....

Wilcots is putrid, hell they have Marv Albert doing games again this year.

    I like Nantz/Simms
Ian Eagle is pretty good, Rich Gannon was OK
    Gumble/Dierdorf are OK

I thought Rich Gannon was pretty good too.

But Wilcots is terrible. Plus he is usally worng about what he is saying.

BTW Brian Billick (FOX) is very good/knowledgable; however they have him paired with Thom Brennaman who is a DB.

Buck/Aikman are decent. I like the trio of Kenny Albert, Moose and Goose.

But overall, you would think they could find some better talent to do these games.

paraphrasing the line from the 40 year old virgin:

"Do you know how I know that your NFL team sucks?"
"Because Spero Dedes and Steve Buerlien annouce all of your home games"

not a base 3-4......carter is not playing LB at all.....he puts his hand down and has yet to drop into any kind of coverage.

Do you have a home theater / surround sound hooked up with your television?

If so just unplug the center speaker, since that is where the broadcasters voice comes out. That leaves you with enough other sound from the crowd, etc. on the other four speakers that you can still follow the game.

The other thing you can do if you live in New England is listen to the game on radio and mute the sound on TV. It doesn't synch up quite right, but if you have a DVR you can delay it a few seconds so it comes out pretty close.

It was quite annoying hearing Solomon imply go "OH WAIT! Did Seymour hear the whistle?! The refs are discussing this now!" as if him hearing it or not would somehow magically void that penalty.

If I ever see Solomon (and recognize him so he's probably safe), I'm going to kick him right in the balls.

I have the opposite problem. My at&t hd is 3-5 seconds slower...which is odd since fiber optics is suppose to be FASTER than coaxle cable. My friend has Time Warner and she gets the feed faster than I do and she lives in Hawaii. So does my other friend from Australia.
