Re: Pats announce re-sign P Tom Malone

No chance of making the team. Will save a little wear and tear

    on Hanson's leg.

Frankly, I was surprised they didn't draft a punter. I think that the best or second best college punter would have a better chance of making the team than just about anyone else they could have drafted in the 6th or 7th rounds.

We always presume that college punters should be able to beat out NFL-experienced punters. In any case, there were two drafted before we drafted in the 5th. The third was drafted in the 7th. It is not at all clear that the punter drafted in the 7th was much (or at all) better than those available as UDFA's.

I agree...Huber I thought might have been a good pick..but was snatched up relatively early in the 5th. We'll see about how Malone does, but he's still a long shot to beat out Hansen.

    No Jersey Selected

Given the emphasis he places on STs, why Bill has kept around crap like Hanson (and Ken Walter before him) is one of football's Great Mysteries.

For the love of Ganja, Tommy Malone, make us Irish proud and kick the stuffing outta the ball, and earn yourself a job here.

PFT has a rumor that the Pats are talking to Ray Guy and want to bring him in to training camp to possibly take over as punter this year. Apparently he's still under contract to the Raiders though and Al Davis wants either Kevin O'Connell or Sebastian Vollmer, plus a 5th round pick in return.
