Surprised no one in here is talking about this.... hmmmmmmmmmm...... Just one question: When the hell is Canadian Thanksgiving..?

FOUR DOWN FOOTBALL IN COMMONWEALTH STADIUM

There's a real good chance Edmonton could host a regular season National Football League (NFL) game, the Denver Broncos versus the New England Patriots, on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend next year.

    Thats bull****.

Its hard enough to get football tickets and now im assuming they're taking away one of our homegames to play in Canada?

    Im completely against this.

I think this is one of the only times we will be in agreement on something but if that were to happen i think there would be a giant uproar from the football community.

Since when did we become the world football league?

This sounds like further punishment for the franchise for Spygate.

Well there's a first time for anything :D

But seriously.... Sacrificing a home game to go to Edmonton..?!? That's almost as far away as San Diego.

As a season ticket holder, I'm already pissed at even the suggestion of such a thing. Canadians have their own pro football league for cryin' out loud, why does the NFL have to stick its business up there? Also, isn't next season when we make an ungodly bunch of West Coast road trips? How could they take away a home game and make the team travel all the way to Edmonton? Hell, the Patriots might as well set up a second home base out West.

To do this in a year where the Pats are already making 4 trips to the West Coast, this is even more absurd.

If this were to actually happen i would seriously start not only a Internet petition but an actual one in real life.

    This would be beyond absurd.

Maybe there's just no truth to the story...? You would think the local media would have picked up on it if it was true.

Let the record show that I am just posting an article from some hoser in Edmonton... I am not trying to spread misinformation. I honestly don't know how solid of a rumor it may be.

The story might have legs -- it said Kraft has already been up there checking things out.

Well, the guy runs a company that processes natural resources, and Edmonton is in the part of Canada that has more natural resources than all other provinces. So, it could have nothing to do with the Patriots.

I've been in that stadium for a CFL football game. It is pretty nice. On the other hand, it would not be good at all to lose a home game. Although I would much rather play Denver in Edmonton than in Mile High.

    Calm down, everybody.

The original rumor was that a 17th game would be added to the schedule for neutral-ground international play, against an opposite-conference opponent.

I see no reason to assume that the Edmonton reporter got the details right.

I grew up in Edmonton during the Warren Moon years, they have a nice stadium, seats about 65-70,000. It would be very shocking if a game was played in Canada and it was not in Toronto or Vancouver.

The Edmonton Sun is on par with the Herald for the number of Pulitzers, take it with a grain of salt.

If it does happen I will make a trip to the homeland, for sure eh.

I would be absolutely amazed if they add the 17th game in time for the 2008 season. There's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many details that would have to be ironed out before adding a 17th game, none the least of which is amending the CBA.

Also you would probably have to amend TV contracts. That ain't something that could be done overnight. No, I think all international games played next year will be part of a 16 game season and somebody's STH fan base will be getting screwed.

The thing that worries me is how specific the report is. If it was just some guy saying "The NFL is going to have a game in Edmonton" then it wouldn't be as worrying. But giving a specific date and specific teams worries me (especially since he mentioned 2 teams that are indeed going to play each other next year).

China was a slam dunk too, I won't hold my breath. But the thought of Molson, football and family makes me weepy (in that order).

There's some talk that the nfl would add a seventeenth game for each team to play somewhere outside the country. Up to this point it has really just been talk, but theyve played a game in Mexico City and are playing a game in London this year.

On a side note, Alberta, the province Edmonton is in, is the fastest growing state/province economy in the world.

Just thought Id throw that in :snob:

Our game with Denver next year is a home game, so it wouldn't be taking a Mile High game away.
