Pats Hall of Fame speculation

They have a long way to go in their careers, but it's easy to imagine which present/recently departed members of the Patriots dynasty teams will be Canton bound. Great bar speculation. Here's my guess.

Tom Brady - Absolute lock for Canton. 3 SBs, 2 SB MVPs, clutch reputation, etc. May be the best of all time when he hangs 'em up.

Richard Seymour - Best DLineman in game today and will be one of top ten in NFL history if he keeps this pace up. Has the respect of his peers and the media.

Rodney Harrison - Will probably be kept out because of dirty reputation, but tough to argue with his success on the field.

Tedy Bruschi - Heart and soul of Pats dynasty. Defensive captain and is already a legend due to his stroke return.

Adam Vinatieri - Good shot at making Canton thanks to Super Bowl kicks and the snow kick vs. Oakland which many consider the greatest kick in NFL history.

Willie McGinest - A reach, but he has more sacks in the post season than anyone in NFL history. A case could be made for his enshrinement.

Bill Belichick - A lock. The Lombardi of this generation.

bruschi no. he will be a patriot hall of famer but not NFL. I love him as much as I do troy, but neither will be in the HOF but both will be forever remembered and hopefully have Pats numbers retired

AV I would guess yes. likeable guy (outside of NE now). unless the colts win a SB though, I really think he instead hurt his chances by leaving then help his chances just to pad accuracy stats.

Willie no. He played for a long time, but unfortunately for him he was injuried when his prime really should have been

Tom Brady - Without question he has become a poster boy of the NFL and with his career that way it is now he will make the HOF even if he never won another Super Bowl which i dont think will happen to be honest.

Seymour - Is a long way from anything. His is a perrenial pro bowler right now. Lets see how hes doing in a few more years.

Harrison - Leads safties all time in areas of sacks and so forth, he wont get in and thats a shame because his numbers are better than most defensive backs ever.

Tedy Bruschi - our HOF yes, never will make it to Canton, big maybe as an honarble mention

McGinest - OUr HOF yes anything else no.

Vinatieri - Might be the first kicker in years to do so. He deserves it without question.

Belichick - His resume is growing and he might be regarded as the best HC of all time 20 years from now.

We know that Seymour is outstanding, and many of the NFL pundits know too..but I dont thinkhe has the NUMBERS that will get him into the HOF. Maybe the Pats HOF sdome day but not Canton.
Vinatieri wil probably get in , but only cause of his SB and Playoff kicks. Other than that, an average kicker.
Belichick and Brady, probably are locks.
Bruschi, greatest heart in the game, but not in numbers for Canton. PATS HOF, definitely.
I believe that Gino Cappelletti has been screwed all of these years.

he was one of the great afl players, right there with buck buchanan, ernie ladd, earl faison and lance alworth, george blanda and cookie gilchrist.
wide receiver, kicker, kickoff returner, leader.
all-star afl player for year after year.
no player like him in the league since he retired.

Folks were saying that if Brady had hung it up after 2004, you'd still be hard-pressed to vote no even on the first ballot.

On the defensive side, probably the best shot of any Pat.

McGinest is a hard case to argue for. Harrison has the (unfair) "dirty" rep. Bruschi has a small chance, especially after coming back from the stroke, but still not very good.

You guys could probably help me out with this, but what about Ty Law? How close would he be. I remember him being pretty good ever since I started watching football, which was a year or two after Drew was drafted. He has 48 career interceptions and 719 tackles. For some perspective, Champ Bailey who is considered the premier CB today has a career 2/3 as long as Ty Law. He has 32 career interception (2/3 of Ty Law's) and 453 tackles (a little less than 2/3 of Ty Law).

Ty is also a 5 time pro-bowler and has had very good post seasons. He could have easily been named SB MVP in SB XXXVI. He was the MVP of the game against the Colts in 2003. He may not be a sure-fire HOF, but he at least warrants discussion. He is a definite Patriot HOF IMO, no matter what terms he left on.

oh yeah, seymour. although he doesn't pile up stats, he is considered one of the best by most people. it has to do with the style the pats play. I think he has a good shot to get in if he keeps being selected to the pro bowl and especially if the pats win another lombardi or two.

Harrison - 50/50(he should be with his play but the fines and everything will be a factor unfortunately. The guy deserves the HOF. If he makes it, obviously he goes in as a Charger.)

No Corey Dillon? An RB who gets over 10,000 yards rushing will no doubt he considered for the Hall. Corey is still going and has a chance to pass some more people in the all time list. He doesnt look like he is retiring any time soon.

Ty Law has a decent shot. A couple years ago he was considered the best CB in the NFL.

Tought for a 3-4 DL man to get the recognition, Sey's rep and por bowl appearances will help

Willie Mac, probably not too many injuries during the prime of his career, if a Pat OLB was to get in the HOF it should be Tippett.

AV, if a PK gets in again he it,

Harrison should be a lock, but... he probably won't get in.

Bruschi, no took too long to become a full time player and find a role.

Brady first ballot lock, if not unanimous something is wrong.

BB first ballot lock.

Ty Law pretty good chance. Big plays in Big games and good career Int #'s

Dillon's numbers and position puts him in position for be a possible HOF player.


Lots of Steelers with 4 rings got in, it will be interesting to see the # of Cowboys (from the Johnson 3SB run) and Niner players get in. Do we add a couple of more SB's? Could change the landscape

I might have made a mistake if this meant "Long time Pats players." So Dillon wouldnt really count but neither would Harrison, yes he has two SB's here but you know he is going to have the Chargers uniform up in the Hall if he makes it in.

I don't understand how people say it's easy to get in. If anythinig it's the hardest. There are more players in the NFL than any other pro sports league, the average careers are much shorter, and given how specialized each position is, it's very tough to subjectivley say this person is better than this person. Please do not use Joe Namath as the lone example of how it is a weak hall.

And BTW, in the case of Harrison or Dillon - unlike baseball you don't go into the HOF under any one team. The busts are just of the player's head.
