i dont see why so many on this board are defending the cheating and lashing out at the accusers and victims. if this team cheated like this i no longer support them. they have shamed this city and tarnished the super bowl victories. from here on in everyones minds those trophies have an asterisk, just like bonds hr record.

shoeless joe jackson, ben johnson, pete rose, barry bonds and bill bellicheat.

    what a disgrace

He broke the rules and that was wrong, or so we are lead to believe.
For this, he should get punished.
Cheating is a little strong, it's not illegal to steal signs, just to TAPE them.

Because it was a common form of gamesmanship. The Pats aren't being punished for cheating. they're being punished for Randy Moss, 2 1st rd picks, Adalius Thomas, wealth, fame, and 3 titles. All the rented mules are tired of being beaten and staged a palace coup through an inbred buffoon of a commissioner who needs a butler to get his pants on.

he broke the rules(cheating is allowed), which the commish felt that it was necessary to clarify or resend to all the teams again to day as it was obviously not clear

Well since the NFL has not issued a statement, we don't know what happened. With your elevated conscience, I'm suprised you would withhold judgment until the facts have been revealed. For example another post of the board points out the definition of where you can't videotape (the coaches box, the locker room and the field. The poster then links to the NFL's rulebook of the filed.

Where the cameraman was standing he wasn't on the field according the the NFL's DEFINITION of the field. It may very well be that BB felt there was a loophole in the rule created by the NFL's definition of the filed. IF so then what the Patriots did was not cheating but playing within the rules to gain a competitive advantage.

I can't imagine how anyone could stop being a fan of a team unless you were never a fan to begin with.
I've made clear my giddyness over the start of this season was shattered to little bits, but I could never not want them to win.

As far as your reason for quitting the team, it doesn't make sense.
The difference between legally stealing signs and the videotaping of signs
is all what this is about.
I expected the public to not understand, but the players chiming in with their ignorance is shocking.
The patriots really didn't cheat anymore than any other team.
"Thou shalt not use a camera for stealing signs" was the rule.
I simply blame Belichick for the entire mess.
He KNOWS he broke the rule, but his arrogance won't allow for public humility over it.

    Disable Jersey

Uh, the thread starter 'Newton Tom Cat' is a recidivist negativist Pats basher who after a long absense yet again crawled out of the woodwork. Of course, he/she/it 'claims' to be a Pats fan.

You're known by your body of work, Tommy Boy.

Exactly. How can people not see the difference?

On top of that, as they said on the Big Show today, it'd be hard to prove we truly broke the rule and were using the tapes in the very game that was being played. I don't think that's how it was being used, as I don't even think that's feasible in terms of logistics.
