Some patriots fans on this forum feel super talented productive players like jones don't deserve as much hype as the far less talented marginally talented blue collar players
Jones did take on more of a leadership role this year. He even talked about how he wanted to step up more with Vince gone.
But I don't think he is the leader you make him out to be. Jones wasn't a wallflower or a follower, but he wasn't even the biggest leader on the DL, let alone the rest of the defense. Ninko was a team captain, as were Mayo and McCourty.
I don't have anything against Jones. He was a good player. But you're acting as if he was Dwight Freeney in his prime's talent combined with Ray Lewis's leadership. He was good, not great, and his role is easier to fill than if we had lost Collins or Hightower or McCourty. He was a nice piece of the puzzle, but let's not get carried away.
