The quarterback of their secondary and biggest defensive leader and locker room guy outside of Ray Lewis is being placed on PUP and will miss the first 6 games of the season.

Thankfully the 6th and final game before Reed comes back onto the field is against the Pats.

While Reed is not a one man gang, I think the chances of Brady having a much easier time against that Ravens secondary goes way up - Ed Reed is to the Ravens what Tom Brady is to the Pats, its a huge dropoff.

Tom Zbikowski is the replacement at Safety during these weeks - A 3rd round draft pick from 2008.

Should be interesting to see what a big hole is left in that Ravens secondary for the first 6 weeks without the 6x pro bowler and how it could change the fortunes of what appears to be one of the best teams in the NFL.

We could use a few breaks. With all the injuries to our key defensive players, Tom is going to need all the help he can get to put up big numbers against the top defensive teams.

It's so weird how the Pats give him so much respect when his play has declined over the last several years.

Keep that gloom and doom going bro. It'll stop that 16-0 thread from popping up again.

We've got a couple so far.

Week 2 - Calvin Pace, Santonio Holmes, Darrelle Revis*
    Week 6 - Ed Reed
    Week 7 - Vincent Jackson*
    Week 8 - Sidney Rice

*With the two holdouts obviously not being set in stone.

Not having to face the true #1 receiver in three games this year should make things easier.

Has nothing to do with doom and gloom, it's just I don't think Ed Reed is that good anymore. It's like saying Ray Lewis is the best LB in the NFL. At least you now know that the Pats aren't the only team I talk about negatively. I could tell you flaws with just about any team or player in the NFL.

As much sh*t as I talk about with the Pats, I don't see a team in the NFL that is a clear cut elite team. In fact, I haven't seen one since the '04 and '07 Pats.

I wonder if some kid is posting on the Ravens board about the extraordinary break that their team will catch since Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden will not be available for the Patriots?

What about the Saints? They look pretty "elite" to me if that means a step
above 90% of the teams out there.

I think the Saint's today are better than the 2004 Eggles and could have
seriously challenged the PATs 2004 team.

    No Jersey Selected

Our 2004 offense would have had a field day with their defense. I don't think their offense would have nearly as much luck vs. our defense.

Ed Reed is to the defensive backfield what Randy Moss is to an offense. If he isn't making plays, its because the offense is doing its best to avoid him. Reed is on my fantasy team and he always scores a ton of points each year

You really think so? You think our offense last year was so much worst than the 2004 offense?

You need to look up some stats. Pats 2009 offense was just as good as
PATs 2004 offense. The 2009 Offense was better passing wise.
I'd even say 2009 offense was better considering the schedules of both years.

And yet the PATs 2009 offense only scored 17 point on the Saints.
I really really doubt your statement that the 2004 offense would have had
a field day with the 2009 Saints defense.
