I usually don't go to any other sites to get my analysis of the upcoming Pats game. But, this week there are no threads on the Bills game. I am surprised that so many fans are looking past a team that has won 5 (?) straigt games and seem to be playing well. Are the Bills not as good as they have been playing or are the Pats so much better than the Bills that folks think this is not a worthy team to discuss. I have not seen the Bills play this year otherwise I would offer my opinion on this upcoming game. Anyway, if anyone has some insight to this weeks game I would love to hear your take.

The Bills are 31st in the league in total offense, and 28th in total defense.

Those numbers do not bode well for them. Even if Brady has a Romoeque or Manningesque night, the talent discrepancy is just too large.

It's in Buffalo and the weather can change in 10 mins and cause problems.

I always fear for Brady with Schoble(sp) coming off the edge. He's one of the toughest for Light to block. The Patriots should win comfortably but I wouldn't be surprised to see a tight game for 2 or 3 quarters.

Yeah, I too am getting worried that no one is talking about the Bills (as if our talking is going to have any impact on the game  but still...)

    Kind of feels quite surreal.

    What concerns me:

    - Considering how Losman and the Bills feel about Wilfork's hit in the first game, will they attempt to get even and try to take Brady out as pungently suggested by someone in the media a few weeks back? Hope our OL is prepared enough.

    - As Reiss points out, their increased confidence due to the current winning streak. (I purposefully ignore how many of those Ws were against quality opponents for this point because my objective is to convince myself that the Bills are a dangerous threat )

    - As BB mentioned, their recent losses were not by a big margin and they could have had a couple of more Ws.

    - Some of their players coming back from the injuries

    - they play really well under the limelight.

Sometimes we can get wrapped up in other concerns but there have already been a few Bills threads here already but you have to delve into a few pages to find them now. Bottom line is that no one is looking past the Bills, we know they're on a good run and but for a couple of bad breaks could easily have had a couple more wins.

They are always dangerous at home and you can be sure that Pats coaches have been looking at them and their games very, very closely to find weaknesses, tendencies and strengths to be exploited or eliminated. I expect a tough, ferocious battle which we always seem to have with this team but I do feel that the old maxim of "On any given Sunday . . . . ". can still be true.
However I don't think it's going to be this Sunday!

It will be interesting to see just how close it will be. I do really feel that this game might be a lot closer then most people think because the Bills are at home, they have always have had a lot of heart when they play and they are still the second best team in this division and a playoff game is still a slim possibility (benefit of the partial parity the NFL does have). They will play with toughness and pride but it just might not be enough with a hurt running back and the wrong quarterback on the bench IMHO.

Good points ALL on "reasons to be a little concerned" or whatever, but this is the best one. It will be interesting to keep an eye on cheapshots coming from a pissed-off Bills OL.

You didn't see them play in Foxboro? Or their MNF meltdown? Well against us, Marshawn Lynch showed that he had a good burst and is tough to bring down. Their defense, especially at the CB position, led by Jabari Greer, was severely over-matched against our passing attack. Against the Cowboys, they were a different monster, but I don't know whether Romo had his mind on Carrie Underwood or what, however despite the mental mistakes, Dallas was able to move the ball.

Are we really supposed to be shaking in our boots over J.P. Loseman? Keep in mind that Buffalo's five wins come against teams with a combined record of 11-36.

Buffalo is decent at home and the night crowd will be noisy (until we get a nice lead, anyway) but there's little to be concerned about. One good WR. A good RB but a running game averaging 3.8 YPC. A four game winning streak against crappy teams. I'm usually a worrier but it would be a stunner to me if this is close in the 3rd quarter.

I am not looking forward to Sunday night's game in Buffalo. I have watched quite a few Bills games this year and they play hard for 60 minutes. During the Bills vs. Cowboys game earlier this season, the crowd was incredible and the players were really feeding off their excitement. This is a game the Pats should win but after a week of rest there is a small chance they could lose. Fortunately, the Bills offense is pretty weak.

JP Losman has just never been able to get it done against the Pats. He looks scared & uncertain in the pocket against them, and holds the ball too long. Edwards was the QB for the Dallas game and I think that's the reason they were in it.

I will be interested to see how our passing game does in the cold and perhaps snowy/rainy weather that has been predicted.

What is the status of Lynch for Sunday? He looked pretty good against us earlier in the year (didn't he run for like a 10 yd. TD?) but he's now working on a bum ankle. If he doesn't go, I'd say JP is in for a long night.

Buffalo HC D Jauron held his usual 2:30 PC today (Wednesday) and touched on RB M Lynch's injured ankle. Jauron stated that Lynch's injured ankle was hurt more than initially thought, was "very sore" and that Jauron wasn't overly optimistic that Lynch would be able to go Sunday night.

This is a game that should be taken seriously. The Bills played out of their minds against the best team in the NFC. Schobel has owned the Pats OL in the past. He has more sacks of Brady than anyone else I think. Getting pressure on Brady is the only way to beat him.

Also the revenge factor for knocking Losman out of the game has me worried. Do they take a shot at Brady early in the game? Do they like their QB that much?

This could be a cold sloppy game. Can the Pats run the ball effectively enough if the elements slow down the passing game?

What is the game plan? Shut down the run and let JP beat you? Isn't that the usual procedure against this team?

How have BB coached teams done the game after the bye week?

Tired of the Colts talk. Let's discuss the upcoming game.

FWIW, I think this game is the game when the defense starts to ratchet it up.

The status of Lynch is very important to the Bills. Without him in the backfield, going will be tough for them.

I expect the usual good effort the Bills put out defensively whenever they play the Pats, but this one just isn't in the cards for them.

    41 - 13, Pats.

The Bills run the same cover 2 defense that Indy does so key will be protecting Brady with just 5 OL. if the Pats OL can protect Brady without much help (like they did in the 4th Q against Indy) then Brady should be able to dissect the Bills secondary and score at will in this game. Even if the Pats have to help out the OL some Brady should still be able to put up 30 points.

If Lynch can't go, or if he's not 100%, then the Bills really don't have much on offense to cause the Pats to worry all that much. WR Lee Evans is the guy I would think BB would look to take out of the Bills offense. Control Evans and there's not much else to worry about (if Lynch is a no go).

I was thinking this about the "D" too. This is the time of year they usually start to become really dominant. If reports are true that Jauron thinks Lynch can't go, I don't see how Buffalo pulls this one out.

I am glad to see a few more responses to this thread! At 5PM EST, the front page of the message board has about a trillion threads on the Colts and other stuff and the rare thread about the upcoming game was way in the bottom.

I am going to single-handedly keep posting every other minute to keep this thread on the top! Ok ok, just kidding...:D

Schobel is Brady's number 2 nightmare right behind Jason Taylor.

And maybe it's the other way around. I think Schobel gets after him more than Freeney or Taylor. What is it about that guy? He's a nightmare.

    I think we're still in a bye-week hangover...have to shake it off!

I picture a whole lot of Ben Watson in this game. Outside of Whitner (one of the best scoffed-at draft picks ever), I just don't see the Bills' back 7 having any answer for him.

Why is everyone so sure this is the formula to beat NE? Brady is better at beating the blitz than any QB in history. Maybe you need to play a 3-4, rush 3, do your best to shut down the medium and long passing game, and hope Brady makes mistakes. Meanwhile assume you won't win unless your offense puts up 25+ points.

I think the point is that the only way to beat the Patriots is take the ball out of Bradys hands by sacking him, or making him get rid of it before he wants to.

One way to interpret that statement is that Brady sin't good under pressure, which we all know is wrong.
another way to interpret it is that the only way to beat Brady is to not let him throw the ball, i.e. get to him before he does.

Ultimately you are looking for a dominating pass rush that is all over him all day long, and that isnt realistic.

    Lynch is out
    Shobel will play

Expect the Bills D to really step it up as the crowd noise will disrupt the offensive play calling.

Wright will get the start at RB instead of Lynch. Fresh legs. I can only hope that he runs better than he has shown thus far this season.

Losman under center. Who know which Losman will show up. The one that throws for nearly 300 yards and a +90 passer rating or the one that throws for 150 and a -50 passer rating.

Special teams advantage is for the Bills but only slightly.

It will all come down to the final drive in my opinion. Hopefully that will be the Bills. Losman has actually shined in the 4th quarter in games this season so I hope that part of his play will remain consistent.

I live in Western NY, and am pretty familiar with the Bills. It's a nice feel good story with all the injuries, but Losmen has one play with Lynch out (A-train blows so you'll have ZERO run game). ---> Deep to Evans, and if you think we've giving him that you are nuts.

Plus, Losmen saves his worst games for us it seems. Yeah, the crowd will be in it for a quarter or so, but this game is gonna be ugly for you. Take the loss, move on and lets hope no-one gets hurts (either side).

p.s. I'm not a Bills hater either, and I do think in a year or so, you'll me MARKEDLY improved. You're just not there yet. Losmen HAS TO GO. Edwards & Lynch are your future.
