Anyone have any luck mailing cards or photos to players asking them for an autograph?
I don't want to bother them:blush:
Are you for real? Pats players send me there cards and photos for an autograph thats how awesome I am... :singing:
Yeah I mean, I don't either but if I was to do it I would do it once. I'd like Cassel's signature but don't feel like shelling 60-70 bucks out for it.
I bet they do, I bet they do. Don't pay attention to the handwriting and how similar it looks to grandma's.
I have a friend who does it for all the teams. Or at least he use to, I moved about 2 years ago and haven't talked to him since.
According to him his success rate is outstanding with no names but not as good with the stars. He says he has never not gotten a response a practice squad player or special teamer (other than the hasbeens) but mixed results with starters and his lowest level of success is with marque players.
I am guessing someone like Cassel didn't get too many requests last year, so every time he did, he was probably like "wow" whereas this year the request have probably increase a lot, so he might not be doing them. I know he got Cassel's autograph Cassel's rookie year.
What he would do is mail a photo, which he would print out on his printer and include a self addressed stamped envelope. He also included a letter claiming to be a fan of the team (a lie, except with the bengals) and would say something about the player. Even with practice squad players he would mention some play they did that was impressive during the preseason.
Cool thanks for the info.
I sent a letter to Branch a couple days after he was traded and got his autograph back in a week or less.
I was thinking of trying O'Connell or Mayo.
Just come to Training Camp. My son has a football with a dozen or so on there. Specific players are hit or miss, but you get the added bonus of sizing them up in person...
I have done this several times as well. My success rate is really good with the Pats players, stars included. (I have not tried the like of Brady or Moss, but have had success with many starters, including several stars of the defense.)
I do find a response time averages 8-12 months. I find players typically respond to such requests during the training camp season - they are at the Stadium every day, but are not overburdened with football-related activities. A request sent now will probably be read next summer.
I like to send cards through the mail, as they are easy to mail and not especially valuable. Of course an SASE is a must and a brief hand-written note is appreciated - make it personal.
The Stadiums adress and some other tips on sigs through the mail can be found here on my website:

In regards to Cassel - this might be tough. He may not be here next year and as such may not recieve your request. He is doing a couple of appearances during the off-season and I will relay this info as details are finalized.
I have autographed cards from:
Welker (a few of them)
Mosi Tatupu (yeah I got a bunch)
I got them all (except the Tatupu ones of course) from Ebay though.
I have a friend who does it for all celebs and sports people and he a good return rate I tried it with a 11 pats last year paid for the return postage on stamped address card didn't get a single photo back that i sent. However I got a letter back from LeKevin Smith and a signed game worn glove. It's now framed on my wall.
Separate names with a comma.
