Pats 2 Key Aces Up their Sleeve: Faulk and........

You mean the Patriots who are traveling across the country after playing a wildcard game last weekend should wear out young Shawne Merriman who has had two weeks rest?

Exactly, the guy is a meathead......

Patriots- Rocky Balboa

Merriman- Clubber Lang

I can't state it any better.

And the Pats have good depth to help Light with blocking.

And who has the youngest, freshest legs on our Offense? Gotcha.

There it is. I was waiting for the weekly "this is gonna be Jackson's breakout game" thread. How naive are you? He hasn't shown anything all year and you still think the big game is going to happen this season! The guy is a bust! etc, etc, etc,....ok, that should be enough villifying for now...:D

You are correct in thinking that the soft SD secondary will be tested by our WR's early and often. Who and how remains to be seen.

We'll be lucky if Jackson can break out of the team charter when it lands or create separation from the baggage carousel!

LOL!

Wait 'til next year on Jackson. Maybe he'll show us something.

As for this year, he's an official rookie bust!

Jackson $452,000 roster bonus + $1.64 million option bonus, then: $360,200 in 2007, $451,800 in 2008, and 633,000 in 2009

Givens 5 years 24 million

Ohh... so those aren't David Givens' rookie numbers. My mistake. Can't fault him for going for the money though. He proved that he could make it in this league. Jackson hasn't.

No that is what Givens did in 06 in a total of 5 games because he was out all season injured making that money which he would have done for the pats as well if we hadn't let him go

I haven't watched a lot of NE's games this year, but in watching the Replay of the game last week. Faulk looks like your best weapon out of the backfield.

Seems having three guys back there is a problem with rotation and finding a groove. Anybody agree with that? He scares me more than Maroney and Dillon...

Yeah, at first I thought those stats were from Givens rookie season and you were calling him a rookie bust.

Givens isn't a good fit in Tennessee. He needs a QB who spreads the ball around all the time. I'd have him back in a second though, granted he renegotiated.

He's the third down specialist, good on screens and draws, and he has hands like a WR and moves enough to create match-up problems on a safety let alone a linebacker. He is the best at blitz pick-up, probably overmatched against your big guys Phillips and Merriman, but he'll surprise you with his blocking.

Maroney is learning, his run game is getting better, his receiving and blocking are also getting better. If he gets into space with the ball he can go all the way.

Dillon is sliding into the Jerome Bettis power role, he still has a burst, but pounding is more his style.

if we hadn't let him go
We didn't "let him go." He was a free agent. He went where he wanted to go. That's like saying you let your girl friend go after she walked out on you and moved in with someone else.

The pats had the cap room to match it and or sign him before last season was over they did not... they let him go.

See Tom Brady and or Dan Koppen. They re-negotiated and re-signed them before free agency loomed, hence they kept them. If they chose not to I guarantee you they would have "let them go"

If by breakout game you mean a couple of catches, then fine. How about those threads that the Pats were holding Chad back from exhibition to 'spring' him on some team. He's not a bust, but he's not going to be part of the critical mix in the playoffs. Having said that, I would not be surprised to see Maroney have a career game in the playoffs. We know he's explosive and given a few good runs......Faulk is scary. I like him on some third down situations. I hope he hangs onto the ball, as if he commits another costly turnover, I think he's done, even tho he has some good years left.

CJax has been lying in the weeds. He's going to get five balls, 132 yards, and two scores. BB has been holding him out just for this kind of game. Wait and see. The reason for all the yards on only five catches -- as well as the two TDs -- is that San Diego has forgotten all about him, will not have prepared for him, and won't be able to adjust to his speed and RAC in time. They're going to be sucking wind as he strides to the house.

TB will be moving the ball around, as usual, and the other usual suspects will gather their share, setting up Jax's takes. And, btw, Dave Thomas is waiting in the wings, too. Did I mention Chad's speed? And Thomas' hands? Yes-s-s! Brady will take a four-step drop off of play-action and loft a sea biscuit, and the rest ... you know what happens. House-call.

You are wise to fear what KeFaulk can do. A couple of years ago in a key game, Kevin accounted for some 160+ yards from scrimmage, out-producing the entire other team (Titans??). He's a very shifty runner, follows his blocks exceedingly well, and pass-blocks as well as any RB I've seen in recent time. He's definitely a gamer.

Maroney? Watson? Evans? Mankins?

If you've been paying attention, you'd know that Watson has been battling a knee injury the past few weeks and hasn't been the threat to the secondary that he was earlier this season. Maroney and Evans are RB's and Mankins isn't a threat to their secondary.

I'm talking about trying to get to SD's one weak link on their D. Their secondary.

I'm not saying or predicting that CJackson will take over the game. Merely suggesting that the Pats would do well to utilize him in some way to diversify the attack and put a different thought into the SD D. 3-4 touches would be a help: 1-2 catches, an end around and a punt return or two. when I say "ace up the sleeve", I'm referring to an unexpected changeup that would catch SD off guard.

Never said anything about a "breakout" game. This game will be won by the team that has the most fringe players stepping up. CJackson would be a good candidate since Brady is going to have to find a way to get over that mountain of a front seven and reach the SD mediocre secondary.
