    #85 Jersey

Welker - The best slot receiver in the NFL.
Tate - Second year who hasn't shown much in the receiving game to date, excellent kick returner. We all expect but he is unproven to this point.
Edelman - Second year QB conversion. Really exciting and similar to Welker but has been injury prone since he got here.
Price - Rookie. There was a lot of talk about him but he looked really poor in preseason and hasn't been on the field yet in the regular season.
Slater - Special teams ace, previously listed as a safety.

I think thats a fair assessment of what we have now after this trade.

    lol

Rex Ryan probably can't believe his luck, granted he'll see Moss on Monday but the AFC East is looking ripe for the picking

Thats a great assessment.:DSo now everyone thinks that Tate will move the chains.I just wonder how Welker's game will be affected.I am worry about this guy getting injured again doing everything for this offense.Hernandez will make some catches.

I really think they need to trade for a WR.

Just think, what happens if Tate gets hurt?

You send out three white munchkins (Woodhead, Welker, Edelman) and a couple TEs?

It isn't a fair assessment unless you include the TE's, especially since Hernandez acts as a WR most of the time and the fact that they have been going with the 2 TE sets, essentially replacing one of the WRs with a TE...

White munchkins? Why are you pointing out that they're white? Stop with the ******* racist bull ****, sick of seeing it.

I've seen people call our defensive backs "midgets." I've never heard them called "black midgets". Stop with the double standard racism, it's disgusting. There is no need to point out a player's ethnicity.

We can always run the ball more, can't we?

Besides we need to keep the defense off the field as much as possible because they wear out from having to play so much.

I'm white, I don't have a racist bone in my body and I don't find anything racist about his comments. In fact I find your comments shocking.

There will be a lot more emphasis in the running game, similar to what we saw on Monday night. I think there will be a change in the whole offensive philosophy. Now there will be a lot more runs on 1st and 2nd down, setting up 3rd and short and then using Welker and Hernandez to make the 5-7 yard receptions moving the chains. I think that this offense can be successful, it will just be a lot different from what fans are used to seeing.

Something that hasnt been mentioned is I think this move puts even more pressure on the offensive line to protect Brady and block for the running backs. The big play threat is pretty much gone, where as with Moss you could use him to make a big play make up for sacks and loss of yards. With that being said I think the OL has performed at a very high level so far this season

I think we're underestimating Tate. Consider:

    • He dropped in the 2009 draft due to his injury. He's healthy now. But IIR, he was a low 1st or high 2nd round talent if not for the injury

    • Brady and the organization raved about him before the season. A rarity in this organization.

    • His speed is apparent, look no further than his kickoff return ability. (I'm more concerned w/ him returning kicks *and* receiving, but thats another discusssion)

    • Passes the eye test. Has gotten separation, and made the tough catch when he didn't, and for first downs...ot sure what his YAC is, but he has made the first guy miss when given the chance.

I think his potential as #1 or #2 receiver had to factor in to the decision to trade moss. I think he'll be targeted early and often this season.

Hard to evaluate Price since we haven't seen him on the field with Brady yet. He becomes the #4 WR now which translates into practice reps with Brady and a handful of snaps in game situations. The skinny on him in college was that he is an excellent athlete and solid route runner, but doesn't have natural hands. Hopefully he has hit the Jugs machine and will benefit from catching passes from Brady behind the #1 OL...rather than Robinson or Hoyer flinging it from their backs.

Actually, this is just one more step in a long-term goal: the shortest team (on average) in the NFL. I look for Vollmer to be traded shortly.

I like the move the chains versus the home run mentality

Anyone think David Patten is on the shadow practice speed dial?

It's pretty sad that you have to bring up something that happened 3 years ago as your only attempt to degrade the guy. He's been outstanding since then, but why let the facts get in the way of you showing your intelligence.

I was just addressing the idea of him being an "ace". Three years is too much? How far back can I go?

Outstanding at what? You're right, I am absolutely stoned by the mountain of facts in your post.
