It was Miami's "revenge" for getting knocked out of playoff contention in the 1993 season finale. Still hate Fryar for that catch..

Coates was a beast that game...until he fumbled the comeback away. Ray Crittenden had an acrobatic touchdown catch, IIRC.

Very fun back-and-forth game, considering the Pats fans had zero expectations heading into 1994 and Bledsoe was in his sophmore year.

    Regards,
    Chris

I remember watching this game. Boy, the field conditions were abysmal. Not a bad offensive lineup back then. Sort of fun seeing all these names -- Slade, Brisby, Turner, Moore, Armstrong, etc. Shula looked as old 15 years ago as he does now. Marino sure was a hothead.

Edit: Maurice Hurst SUCKED! Also, interesting how full the stadium was then. Dolphins fans don't bang it out these days like they used to. That was Drew's best year.

I thought Drew became a man this game...and set the tone for a really productive 1994. Sucks to have lost that game, but watching Bledsoe's pure talent was a treat.
Brady can do just about everything better than Drew, but buy could #11 throw the long ball!

I recorded the game on DVD last night and watched the first few minutes this morning. Drew Bledsoe! Bruce Armstrong! Vincent Brisby! Marion Butts?

And God almighty, Don Shula still coaching the Dolphins. That seems like ages ago now...

On Sept. 4, 1994, I was in the basement of my dorm at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point watching the Packers beat the Vikings. I met one of my best college friends that day... unfortunately, he dropped out after that first semester.

NFL Network, IMHO, would do a lot better by its fans/viewers if instead of showing the same NFL Films presentations 30 times a day they showed more of these old games. A lot more.

It'll be on again this afternoon at 2 P.M. Eastern time for anyone interested.

They should show the '94 game vs. Minnesota where Drew had 70-some pass attempts and won it in overtime with the pass to Turner. I'd love to see that one again.

Can you imagine what people would say if Brady showed that same kind of "body language"?

That year and the epic games vs the Phins were Bledsoe's best. It was great theater, Bledsoe vs Marino when we at last had a QB that belonged on the same field. Good coaching didn't hurt either. It was the 1st time in ages that the Patriots weren't a joke across the country.

People love to beat up on Bledsoe, and he definitely had his faults, but it was him and the Tuna that put the Pats on the map, and we've enjoyed almost 2 decades as a winning team since then.

That 94 game was fun to watch - Parcells vs Shula, Marino vs Bledsoe, a young McGinest making his mark, Fryar on the enemy side with the big play . . .

Awesome game. Awesome season. Young or bandwagon fans will never understand how important and great that era was. Drew Bledsoe is one ofthe most important players in patriots history. Anyone who badmouths Drew wasn't around to see what preceded him.........

Got that right! I bought a VHS copy of that game off some guy on eBay, and even though he dubbed at a slower speed and spread it out over two tapes to try to improve the picture quality, it's still kinda fuzzy. I'd love to be able to record it myself.

This was not so long after what I'll call the Orthwein scare; Parcells and Bledsoe were key to stabilizing a patient in critical condition; I'm over my anger at the former, and am now grateful to both for the roles they served...

It was kind of fun having to keep track of first down marks on my own again, nice to know I still have that skill :)

Can you imagine a young Bledsoe having Fryar to throw to? The Pats should've kept him, that would've been awesome.

I remember being distraught over the real possibility of the Pats being moved to St. Louis by Orthwein. That last game in '93 at home vs. Miami was billed by some as the Patriots' final game in New England. Thank God for Bob Kraft.

Speaking of the 1994 season, someone once posted the entire Pats-Browns playoff game from that year on youtube. BB coaching against his future team was a strange sight.

Attn: Sean Pa Patriot, Tunescribe, and TrueBeliever...
I agree with you, that 94 Pats/Dolphins game was a great one to watch...I just became a season ticket holder that year, and I remember watching that 1st road game thinking, if every game's like this one, I dont care if they lose every one! Drew Bledsoe was a real shot in the arm, exactly what the team needed at the time.
I just happened to see the game was on NFL network again last week,(March 2010)so I set my Dvr to record it. Unfortunately, although it recorded for a full 3 hours, it must have started late because it cut off the last 10 minutes of the game. Uggh! When I googled that game this morning I came across your thread, and decided to sign up, just so I could ask you a question.
By any chance if one of you, could let me borrow your Tape or Dvd so I could record the last 10 minutes and any postgame you might have, I could set you up with a dvd of the Minnesota Comeback Game, where Drew threw 55 completes and 70 attempts,to win after being down 21. Another Classic! Thanks in advance.
