Patriots | Team intends to collect full amount of fines from Branch
Mon, 11 Sep 2006 23:54:07 -0700

Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports the New England Patriots intend to collect the full amount of fines from WR Deion Branch, who was recently traded to the Seattle Seahawks. The full amount of fines Branch totaled during his holdout figure to top $600,000.

Just curious where does that $ go?

A couple of thoughts spring to mind
1)charitable donation to Victims of Katrina (people who are really struggling to take care of their children!)
2) Donation to medical facility currently caring for Branch's son.
3)cover expenses incurred in dealing with whole #@%$$#negotiations!

I'm so ready to move on to our actual team and the upcoming game!

Someone has posted elsewhere that fines and penalties go into an NFL penalty pool and are not counted into the cap.

600K would probably be enough to add a small wing to the Benedict Arnold Museum.

Honestly, I hope the Patriots donate it to a charity that helps low-income families with children who have Deion Branch's child's condition.

Im glad they are fining the full amount, I hope that the money does infact go to a good cause

Collect it all and donate it to me.

Use it to fund Patsfans.com.

Hahah. Ty Law's family will benefit from the same charity.

Good. I think this needs to happen. Yeah Branch can afford to pay now with his big 12M signing bonus but there SHOULD be a penalty that applies when players use tactics like holding out and not reporting to work.

That should at least make some players think twice about doing this unless they are going to get a really fat contract out of it to offset the penalties.

Well if the money goes to a pool it's not like it is even going to the Pats, they are just enforcing a league rule.
