Of course that pretty much rests on the RB and WR corps, haha.

Patriots third-oldest, Fins sixth-youngest - AFC East - ESPN

Excerpt:

ESPN.com's spreadsheet savant Mike Sando punched the button Monday morning to compute the average age of each club's 53-man roster.

The calculations, which include Sunday's waiver transactions, show only two teams are older than the New England Patriots, who are tied for third with the Arizona Cardinals at 27.74 years old.

The Patriots probably will field their youngest opening-day defensive lineup since the Pete Carroll era, but this shows how many veterans they have on offense and in depth roles.

The Miami Dolphins are the AFC East's youngest team, coming in 27th with an average age of 26.47 years old.

I wonder what our average age would be if you took out taylor, morris, and faulk?

Edit: D'oh!

Yeah, we're averaging 11 days per man older than the youngest team in the league.

We're doomed.

Or take out Galloway and Springs.

Re: Patriots STILL third oldest team in the league.

It's a stupid stat. The disparity between oldest and youngest isn't even, what, two years per man? And do they count the whole team equally, or just starters? And who decides what constitutes "better"? Is a team with 30-year-old starters doomed compared to a team with 23-year-old starters? Is it not possible that what the older guys have lost in speed they've made up for in smarts? is a Canton-bound QB or WR over 30 not better than a scrub who's 20?

A lot of things can happen in 11 days, you never know...

Ummm . . . the difference is a bit more than a year.

You misread by a factor of 50 or so.

Re: Patriots STILL third oldest team in the league.

i would love to see this stat in 2 years, when both springs and moss will be gone (retired)

and when galloway, fred, morris and faulk will all be gone

our skill players are the ones that are old now, instead of our lb's, LOL

27.74 minus 26.47 equals 1.27
1.27 years equals 463.55 days
So it's an average difference of being 464 days older per player, not 11 days.

Regardless, I do agree that it's not worthy of a column. The difference between having three veterans rather than rookies on a roster can skew the average age by about nearly a full year.

Ooops, you're right, my bad!

Man, we ARE doomed :D

Look at the Colts...2nd youngest?.... I thought they were over the hill?!?!
