It isn't very much money in terms of the salry cap, but it is a strange rule. It's as if the league is afraid teams will kill off their players in order to get out of paying their contracts.

I wonder if Bob Kraft will give the remainder of Hill's salry to his family.

Re: Patriots Still on the Hook for Hill's Salary

Technically the Patriots aren't for Hill's salary, just his unamortized bonuses.

Here's my question: Will they pay the bonus to his estate? Or will the Pats keep the money, but still be on the hook for whatever cap ramifications that may apply?

Singing bonuses were already paid. They are just "catching up on the accounting". Cash flow has already happened.

Exactly. The reason the rule makes sense is that the money has already been paid; it has just been deferred from hitting the books for salary cap accounting purposes.

You are confusing him with Irsay. Irsay is trying to not pay Corey Simon when he should.

Kraft paid Robert Edwards when he didn't have to, and if he wanted to he didn't have to pay Bruschi when Tedy couldn't practice in training camp because of injury which was non-football related. Bruschi did come back and play, but at the time, everyone assumed that he'd played his last, and still Kraft paid him and the team pupped him. The football gods rewarded Kraft when Bruschi was able to paly again.

What would Irsay have done with Bruschi and Edwards? Or do I even need ask?

    #15 Jersey

Exactly. I'm sure it was Kraft who paid for the TEAM to go go down there and stay for the services.

I'l bet if you asked the Hill family about how the Kraft family has treated them you'd be proud to call them the owners of your favorite team.
