Patriots Roster Prediction 2.0

Wright has not seen the field yet..........he is a candidate for the PUP....I could see having Richard or Weston here if that is the case.
Tate may also land on the PUP........though his future is now in the hands of others
Spikes may also wind up there

I think the practice squad will look like this: Smith, Medlin, MCarter, Ross, Tarpinian (on the roster if spikes is not).

I also think they will keep Koepplin around hiding under a rock somewhere......maybe work in concessions or something while the pats make sure ghostkowski is OK

Wright to pup and warran gets his spot. You know what you are getting from him. which is solid performance.

With the age on the DL i am sure the PUP list will be a good place to keep some guys in.

I'd agree, though Wright may even retire with the concussion issues. I like warren and believe he'll be solid again. But I think I'd like to see another young guy behind Haynesworth, Wilfork and Ellis. Not sure who that would be yet though.

warren started fast last year, too.......then tailed off badly by midseason.....don't see the pats keeping that much age around.....

nobody was knocking warren's door down this offseason.....he'll be around if they need him

All true enough, though Warren has said that he had an understanding w/the Pats and chose not to talk to other teams. And last year he had to play far more snaps than anybody wanted due to the incredible rash of DL injuries. I think he makes for quality, versatile depth in a more limited role.

Aside from that...no Maneri on this roster? Only three tackles?? I really can't see that. He gets the spot allocated to Ihedigbo, on the grounds that Sergio Brown is an excellent ST guy as well as a solid #4 safety.

I think Maneri makes it over Wendell or Ohrnberger. We like to carry 4 T's and already cut Levoir because we have an in-house alternative. I think Warren over Wright too. But, wouldn't be shocked if it was Westor or Richard. Probably Richard. I have Sammy Morris instead of a 10th db. He's a good special teams player too. So, you don't lose anything there.

There are so many possibilities and so many moves that can be made after others cut down.. reminds me of mock drafts, my brain hurts..

Wright, Tate and Spikes all practiced very early in training camp. None are eligible for the regular season PUP list.

Agree with this..... I think Warren will get the nod and I just don't know about Wright. Something strikes me as "not good" with his situation. Speculation for sure, but I wonder if he will really be ready to go this season. If not, and its still concussion related, that can't be good for his career. I hope I'm wrong.

I agree that Maneri will make the team..... For some reason I see Ihedigbo making it to. Not sure who'd be the odd man out though in that scenario.

Thanks, I thought I'd seen Wright out there. On that topic...has there been any indication that his current injury is concussion-related? Could it be that folks are projecting his retirement based on ongoing concussion issues when he really sprained his elbow or some such?

That's the million dollar question, isn't it.... Perhaps someone should ask BB about it in his next presser.

I would think that if it was something non-concussion related that SOMETHING would have "leaked out" about it. The fact that we've heard nothing seems ominous. Then again, this is that Patriots........ so he could be nursing a sprained finger. That would be great if that's the case.

WOW...... I was kidding about this and almost simultaneously a tweet came in from Mike Reiss.

Asked about Mike Wright, Bill Belichick says Wright's absence in preseason isn't related to what he went thru last year.

That's the most information we've heard on him yet..... VERY GOOD NEWS.

Mike Wright doesn't deserve a spot unless if it is on early PUP list

I like Wright a great deal, but given the quality we currently have he should be sent to PUP for depth purposes. I don't go all in by giving him a spot b/c we have capable candidates that do the same things. The Early PUP is great b/c we will save a guy for our depth and after 6 weeks (if we need him to replace some other player that is injured or under-performing Wright is the guy that comes in with a cape on to fill that spot.

holy crap....didn't notice maneri's absence....what I've seen of him, he needs to be there

that said, cannon can be a RT, and the other 3 are all capable at LT

Check the previous four comments out; Mike Wright is not eligible for PUP.

The only players that are still on PUP and therefore still eligible to go on PUP to begin the season are Brandon Deaderick, Ron Brace and Kevin Faulk. In addition Marcus Cannon is still on the Non Football Injury list.

Those four are the only players that can be safely stashed away and still be used later on this season when it is time for roster cuts to be made.

It's already been mentioned in this thread that Wright is NOT eligible for the PUP list.

Your reading comprehension deficit it showing again... Players cannot be PUPPED once they have practiced...

Wright represents affordable rotational depth and versitility and has earned substantial playing time escalators in each of the first two years of his 2009 extension which runs through 2012. You're such a sucker for flavor of the month players you lack any perspective on roster construction for the long haul.

I read the roster prediction guys... not every post talking about your reactions to it. I am reading a few now and see that it was mentioned

I still don't get the fascination with Jeff Tarpinian and how he might sneak onto this roster. What has he actually done in games or practice thus far?

Besides if we are keeping Ihedigbo and Slater, I think that's enough with the special teams coverage specialists right there. Slater is far and away our best coverage guy.
