Re: Patriot's opponents offensive preview in summary - Run first and crappy QBs

Last season the average passer rating was around 85. Therefore, the OP was correct. Our Patriots won't face a good QB until after the bye. A good QB is close to 90. Crappy quarterbacks are by definition below average. The first seven max out as average or slightly above average.

This is a great scenario: to have the better quarterbacks later on the schedule. The young defense can gain experience before facing Manning and Brees and the playoffs.

BTW, Edwards passer rating last season was 85.4. That's an average QB and now behind a weaker line.

Don't forget, last year's defense made even the worst QBs look like superstars. Check out the Pats' defensive passer rating. It was over 100!

I don't care what anyone says, rushing the passer is key. Even in "run first" offenses, 2/3 of their total yardage comes from the pass (unless the passing game is Raider-like anemic).

Remember the 2004 run-first Patriots? They had 3558 passing yards and 2143 rushing yards (37% rush yds, 63% pass yds).

Actually D passer rating was 89, but passer rating is a poor stat.
