The guys at Patriots Insiders claim that the Pats have shown interest in Lavelle Hawkins, another WR. They apparently interviewed him at the Senior Bowl in Mobile. They have not looked at any defensive players, YET.

Edit: PI now says that the Pats have either interviewed or will interview the following players
Jamar Adams (Safety)
Charles Godfrey (CB)

If anyone knows anything about these players, please share.;)

Charles Godfrey:
Strengths:
Has excellent size with a solid frame and long arms...Outstanding timed speed...A fantastic athlete...Real quick with a burst to close...Very good ball skills...Is strong and tough...Physical and aggressive...A reliable tackler...Will deliver the big hit...Is versatile with experience at two positions...Still improving and has a huge upside.

Weaknesses:
Extremely raw and still learning the position...Has to work on his technique when it comes to footwork and positioning...Marginal instincts and awareness...Doesn't play as fast as he times...Inconsistent and gives up too many big plays...He relies too heavily on his natural talent...Risky and might be a bit of a "Workout Warrior".

Jamar Adams:
Strengths:
Has good size and a solid frame...A smooth athlete...Very good timed speed...An excellent tackler...Strong and tough...Smart with nice awareness...Works through traffic well...Has a lot of experience...Good special teamer...Hard worker...Leader.

Weaknesses:
He doesn't play up to his workout numbers...Lacks great instincts and recognition skills...Does not have fluid hips and doesn't transition well...Better versus the run than in coverage...Is not real explosive...Hands and ball skills are merely average.

Lavelle Hawkins:
Strengths:
A great athlete...Good body control and ball skills...Tough and will work the middle of the field...Plays faster than he times and can separate...Explosive...Is quick and agile...Elusive and runs well after the catch...Can also contribute as a return man.
Weaknesses:
Size and bulk are just average at best...Isn't very strong or powerful and will get pushed around...Sub par route runner..Drops some balls and does not have great hands...Marginal timed speed...Is not a finished product..Questionable work ethic

If there is one thing in these scouting reports that people should put no stock in when it comes to players that BB might draft, it is tight hips.

BB is not afraid to take players with tight hips.

Add Chad Henne to the list.

I would not mind if BB took Henne on days 2.

the way Brennan showed up..Henne is likely ahead of him. Colt shows up @ 185..and lacks arm strength for NFL according to scouts at the Bowl

Not to mention he winds up from the knees. He might have caused himself to go undrafted, when you figure in bad mechanics, weak arm, lack of ideal height/weight, poor level of competition, fluky offensive system...

Article from PFW - Cal duo has displayed offensive skills

This quote makes him sound like a Pats veteran:

It’s not as easy to pinpoint who Hawkins’ doppelganger might be, but he has been as consistent this week as he has been flashy. He has run clean routes and used good footwork, something he said was a product of his college offense.

"At Cal, that’s expected of us," he said. "There’s not a lot of freelancing (allowed). We have to be where we are supposed to be. I learned that lesson early."
