    #11 Jersey

    (OT) Sebastian Vollmer (Back)
    (DL) Jermaine Cunningham (Hamstring)
    (WR) Taylor Price (Hamstring)
    (OL) Ryan Wendell (Calf)
    (LB) Jeff Tarpinian (Knee)

Really wish Vollmer and Cunningham were available.

Its so dissapointing seeing our young players injured all the time. Cunningham and Price will never make it if they can't get on the field

A few more games lost for Price and some will put him in the Chad Jackson category

the major 1 is Vollmer. I am not worried about Price being out and not geting experience. The dude is a natural and why play the dude if he tweaked a hammy. Jermaine can be replaced b/c we are relatively deep @ that position right now

Can we please stop with the comparisons to Chad Jackson?

2011 was a lost season for him because of the situations regarding his school (the weird offense they ran, and the schedule, which kept him out of OTAs).

Vollmer being out scares the crap out of me. We will have a guy who has never played a regular season game in his life starting at a position he's not used to playing going up against one of the best pass rushers in the league. Terrific.

Only 6 Ols left right? They will have to either activate one off the PS or sign another...

Wendell is out and Connolly is questionable. Do they have enough OL to play?

A 6-8 300lb guy that has to bend over for a living has a back injury....I'm sure that won't be a serious problem...

Pats have an amazing number of injuries considering they have yet to play their first game. It might be a long season with few healthy players.

Only the offensive line is of concern. I supect the rest would have been inactive anyway.

To state the obvious, this situation was predictable. Folks get injured. That's why we usually carry 9 OL's, including 4 OT's.

With both Connolly and Wendell having injuries, it is not suprising to see one of them out. If Wendell's injury is serious, we likely will add someone to replace him. That is business as usual. One of the guards (probably Wendell) would have been inactive in any case, so there is no effect on the game.

The situation at OT is simply incomprehensible. We have an injury (could be minor or not) and we are starting a rookie at a new position in this first game, and have no backups at either OT position. That is simply not good decision-making. And all this to keep us from putting Tarp on IR? We had Levoir AND Maneri under contract. If they were unfit, we could have added a veteran.

We have plenty of cap money and we allowed this to happen! That being said, I expect that we will activate Welch from the Practice Squad, and either keep him on the 53, or replace him with a vet after Monday.
    =========================

    BOTTOM LINE - ONE POSSIBILITY
Belichick has an OT addition that he planned to make after the opening game, in order not to have to pay a guaranteed salary for the season, since Cannon might be ready for the spot after a few weeks. If that's the case, Belichick needed to avoid two injuries for a few practices and one game. If he loses his bet, well unlikely events do happen sometimes.

But the Plan B is still to add an emergency OT for the game, probably Welch.

To add Welch, someone has to be cut or sent to IR and lost for the season.

I assume that it's too late for a transaction at this point, so we will have to play with what we have tomorrow.

He had a train? If he did, my son's Radio Flyer trike has traveled more.

    So?

Whoever was cut or sent to IR would likely be gone by next week anyway, unless you think that we are not planning to add anyone this week.
