Good news and good signing! This was a nice surprise to what was starting to become a stagnant few days for football talk. :D

Sweet. Now I really like the Springs signing. Adding Taylor for some pass rush would really make this a nice offseason.

Re: Patriots Agree to Terms with Bodden

    Richardson, Spann

Spann is our #4 safety, and a special teamer.
So, we're all set in the secondary, given that we all understand that we need to draft a safety on Day One.

Of course, Springs could be our #3 safety.

Mike Richardson should be coming back off IR...but I wouldn't count on him being too much of a factor, but who knows.

What should be interesting is if any of the kids accel in camp, if any of the veterans like Springs would get looks at helping out at Safety

Re: Patriots Agree to Terms with Bodden

I'm still hoping for a day 1 CB pick along with a DE and OLB, regardless of who they sign as free agent(s).

Great signing in what is shaping up as a very nice free agent signing period for the Pats.

Re: Patriots Agree to Terms with Bodden

Why on earth would they draft another CB on day one?

The only way I can see that happening is if someone they covet happens to fall in their lap. Otherwise, I doubt it.

Re: Patriots Agree to Terms with Bodden

I think Springs will play CB not S, and I don't think they signed these guys with the idea of starting the same players who gave it up on third down all last year. There will be a different secondary.

Now that we're filling in holes, I wouldn't be surprised if we trade at least 2 of our day one picks for future higher picks.

Another guy who doesn't count towards the comp pick process, correct?

Detroit cut him prior to a bonus coming due.

It's only a one year deal, so I'm not sure people should be looking for much here.

Re: Patriots Agree to Terms with Bodden

Part of that problem was due to a lack of pass rush, which is what will be addressed in the draft.

Re: Patriots Agree to Terms with Bodden

Richardson was on IR in 2007, he started 2008 on the Practice Squad before being called up and seeing spot duty in relief of O'Neal and Hobbs, plus doing a solid job on STs.
