The New England Patriots corporate sponsors are standing by the team despite the risks associated with having their brands tied to an organization that was caught cheating.

“This is the time when the Patriots organization needs the support of its corporate sponsors the most,” a Bank of America spokesman said yesterday.

Michael Norton, a spokesman for Gillette, said there have been no discussions at all within the Procter & Gamble unit about the implications of the Patriots cheating scandal.

Delta Airlines, in a brief statement, said it would continue as a Patriots sponsor. A spokesman for Savings Bank Life Insurance, said the company, which signed a sponsorship agreement with the Patriots earlier this month, is excited about its new partnership.

“We have no current plans to change,” added a spokesman for Fidelity Investments, which sponsors the Fidelity Investments Club House section of Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

“Our relationship with the Patriots has not changed,” said a spokesman for Framingham-based Staples, another major Pats sponsor.

Someone ought to boycott any Boston paper that refers to this incident as cheating. It ought to be called "technical rule violation."

Calling this into question is ridiculous on its face. What a stupid non-story.

This is excellent news, and it comes at the right time.

Tomorrow night's game will probably be the football event of the year. The Pats need overwhelming support from everyone associated with the team. The sponsor's complete support is encouraging..now, and I don't even doubt this...the fans need to crank up the volume tomorrow night, and reinforce to the Patriots their fan base is complelety behind them, and to send a message to the Chargers we still love the Pats.

GO PATRIOTS!!!! NOW MORE THAN EVER!!

This is why the speculation that this will be going into his last yr as the Coach of the Patriots.. It might cost Kraft a lot money, maybee not now, but in the future it could.. This thing is never going to go away, Belichick could end up coaching in the new arena leauge with Mark Cuban... I know it sounds stupid, but Kraft behind the scene's could be very upset..

Is that a feel good story or what?

"Bank of America, the offical bank of the Pats, issued the declaration of support a day after the National Football League slapped the Pats and head coach Bill Belichick with $750,000 in fines and yanked away a draft pick for the Camera-gate scandal.

“We’ve offered the Kraft family and the New England Patriots [team stats] our support, and we’ll do what we need to do to forge ahead to emerge even stronger,” said Bank of America."

Bill's line of credit was upped by $500K the moment the decision came down. They know he only makes $4.2M, but they figure after his next contract he'll be more than good for it. Not to mention when the royalties from his long awaited tell all on the NFL tops the NYT Bestseller List the day after he's inducted into the HOF. :D

Wow. I'm glad the sponsor's don't care, but the fact that this even a story at all.

You're right, it sounds stupid, which is why your saying it doesn't suprise me in the least.

Proof positive why it's not cheating and never was cheating. It's advanced scouting ... nice to see the advertisers laying off the lynch mob bandwagon. If nothing else ... we have our coach for life now ... loyalty is and will be rewarded with a few more rings for the empty fingers.

That's funny, I was thinking the exact same thing with Bank of America. They see another chance to make money. I bet they gave a great rate though !!

At least it's nice to get some positive press this week.

No way in hell the Patriots were the only team doing it but since they are on top even considering the Colts won it last year they are going to catch the extra flack. Other teams want to see them go away.

Anyone with common sense can see that. Miami just did it last year and that all went away in a week. I'm glad to see the sponsors stay with them and show complete support.

They care! They just believe that it is in their best interests to continue their advertising campaigns rather than just stop. It is at renewal that the issue becomes real.

If the boys add another ring, those sponsors will be bumping their heads in the rush to line up for a new contract.

This is classic Herald garbage.

You might as well run a story like:

Belichik not involved in murder investigation
Foxboro - Local sheriffs confirmed today that they are not investigating Belichick for murder. Reached by phone, the sheriff indicated that no investigation was under way, and that usually they do not start until a murder actually occurs. So Belichick appears to be safe - at least for now.
