Folks, Im getting sick and tired of all the "insiuders report the Doophins will..." stuff all over the place. Why dont we call this what it is and say Bill Fatcells is jealous of his underlings historical success and needs to grab the limelight.

Who cares if a 1-15 team fires its GM, coach, waterboy? Its obvious Billy Boy needs attention here.

Bill Parcells has always liked being in the limelight. He does no harm there, and is actually funny in most of his press conferences with the media. Big Mike Florio I call this harmless.

This is nothing more than a slow motion train wreck.

I imagine they will get one good season out of it, and I don't mean next year. And even one good season will be tough if they don't replace their aging playmakers on defense as well as get a QB, head coach, ect..

Parcells will move on in three years.

I am thinking he will try to get Pennington down there. Another one of his reclamation projects...

I think it will be fun beating up on Parcells twice a year.

Honestly, this is pretty anti-homer, but I think given his past biases (BB etc.) I think Bill Parcells has been relatively objective this year, and I actually think he gives better insight than 95% of the talking heads in the media do. I know he had problems with Kraft but he's been a pretty decent NFL commentator IMO.

I don't really see this as an attention grab by Parcells. Once the regular season is over, the axes start to fall pretty fast. Other than coaches involved in play-offs, the best available are signed before the Super Bowl. The Tuna will have his signed before he even thinks about a GM, IMO, and his main job will be the upcoming draft. Right now, my guess would be Martz and Ryan for his co-ordinators, with a weak figure as HC, a buffer to act as go-between. Cameron could stick in that role, until one rises to the top. The obvious best choice for Gm would be his son-in-law, but we know Pioli is smarter than that.

Parcells is entertaining and he's good for football in that sense but your original premise is right on. Parcells cannot stay away from the NFL spotlight because it's like a drug for him and his ego required a daily fix. Being part of the NFL scene is the only thing that does it for him. He'll make the Dolphins better simply because he knows how to hire good people to do a job for him. As is his track record he won't last 5 years.

Let's just be honest: This is a pathetic post by a man who knows nothing about Bill Parcells.

You have juicey theories though, Mike. Good on ya. Join the crowd, but if you want to separate you have to present at least one supporting fact, or maybe just a bit of circumstantial evidence. A guy taking another position in his profession is not circumstantial evidence.

IMO, Bill Parcells is simply the guy owners call to rebuild a team. That's his profile. He does it well. He's never failed to produce the desired result. Who else can say that he's rebuilt four NFL teams and made them all into SB contenders? Give us your short list.

It seems to me that you're taking one of Parcells' greatest strengths and trying to portray it as a weakness. Yes, Parcells has a massive ego. He's a media whore. And in an entertainment business, that's golden! I can't think of another sports executive since Red Auerbach who has combined gametime success with media magnetism so well.

Just a few short weeks ago, the Miami Dolphins were desperately scraping to avoid the ignominy of the NFL's first winless season. They were sad sacks on the field, unable to fill their stadium, and Dolphins gear was languishing on store shelves. As for next year, good luck on attracting any quality free agents.

By hiring Parcells, the Dolphins instantly made themselves relevant. He moved fast to start remaking the organization in his own image -- building buzz and excitement and wiping the past season out of fans' minds in record time. The team won't be good in 2008, or probably 2009...but does anybody doubt that Parcells will do better than the braintrust that drafted Ted Ginn? And in the meanwhile, Bill's presence makes sportswriters local and national prick up their ears.

    Good hire by Miami.

What 99% of the media's attention on the Patriots not enough? How dare Miami make a personal change so ESPN has something to report other than re-reporting ever detail about the Patriots for the 75th time.

LMAO! So true, I may have to resort to my own personal replays with all this attention on Parcells and the Dolphins!! :p

Not for nothing, but I am glad to see Parcells getting involved with a team again, he's good at what he does, and it'll be interesting to see what he can do in Miami.

I really like the use of the word "relevant"....it's exactly what Jerry Jones said when he hired Parcells to fix the Cowboys. He said he could see the Cowboys were becoming irrelevant and that was the way to fix it instantly.

It's true. Parcells is a legend. That takes nothing away from our own legendary coach, either.

    That's exactly what he did.

Where does this sophomoric notion come from that if you like being in the spotlight during execution of your professional duties that you are a "whore"? That tells me that the poster flips burgers for a living and is jealous of anybody who actually enjoys facing the public.

I would bet any money that the poster has never had a job that required him to face an audience. And if it did, he'd fail and go home hating everybody that is good at it.
