- a chance to be a hero without the risk or pressure.
- gets a team that has a lot of good stuff in place
and just needs a little to become a winning team
- in two years he could have the players to be a top 10 team or close to it.

Remember the Fins this year loss a lot of games by 7 or less points and
they lost their stud RB. If they add a few offensive weapons and get a little
better on defense ... they'll go from bottom to middle of the pack.

Parcells is no dummy. He walked into Dallas, a team with a lot of stuff
already in place and walked out in good shape. Even now people credit
him with Building the current Dallas team.

He'll do the same for the fins ... watch and see ...
... then he'll walk out a hero.

One thing is for sure, they can't get any worse. So if they double their win total next year it will be a successful season. Tuna is a big name guy so of course he will be credited with it all.

The way I see it they need:

a proven QB
some receivers
a coaching staff
several replacements for their aging defense
an improved secondary

What else did I forget?

The day that Parcells signs the contract, the franchise will be worth millions more, and even more after he names a few of his staff. By the week after Super Bowl, the choosing of Parcells could be worth $20M or more to the owner of the phins.

Call him what you will, but this is his specialty. Apparently he's bored with broadcasting and has been give a clear bill of health.

The amn that is in big trouble is Mangini. His team is at the bottom with little hope.

Wake up... this team has one win. They have a few good players, but they also have alot of older players who are gonna be leaving soon. I don't see how this is the dream situation other than it's in a good weather area.

It's not like he's getting peyton manning or brady.... he could be looking for a legit qb for the next 5-7 years and may never find that qb to take him to the superbowl.

Also he has to get by the Pats.

Parcells had the dream situation with Dallas. He was in the NFC... he was loaded with talent, Tony Romo was beginning to emerge. But Parcells walked away.

The Fins have a ton of work to do to rebuild and the AFC East is about to get very competitive with the Bills and I can't see the Jets being this awful, they are gonna be at least a .500 team.

Bill Parcells likes to walk into dismal situations with good prospects for a quick turnaround.

Examples:

1993 - New England Patriots. Draft position #1 (Drew Bledsoe)
1997 - New York Jets. Draft Position #1 (Keyshawn Johnson)
2008 - Miami Dolphins. Draft position #1 (?)

So, in 3 of his last 4 jobs he has walked into a situation where the team has nowhere to go but up and his the #1 pick in the entire draft. No wonder some people think he is a genius.

But, don't Dolphins get killed when they get caught in Tuna nets?

I thought he was going with Miami?

The defense is old, the line sucks and they don't have a QB.

Their best player is a running back with a busted knee. Yeah, they're ready to break out.

That's what he does. Picks up some vets, slaps some paint on the walls and makes teams respectable.

They'll need to continue with somebody younger, but teams that bad get a stench of losing and that's what Tuna can turn around temporarily.

Don't discount it, by the way. I prefer the long term approach, but how many teams flounder, coach after coach despite drafting high every year? Losing just begets more losing.

I did not say they would be a top ten team next year.
But in two years and some luck with FA and Draft, Parcells can have
the fins in the top 15 for sure and maybe a top 10 team.
Would anyone here bet the house the Fins won't be a top 15 team
next year?
If I were a fins fans I'd be very happy with the move.

First thing he needs to do is get a QB. Beck is not the answer, that kid throws like a girl.

I think Parcells is either going to draft big Jake or Dorsey. He wants to boost the lines. You could get Tom Brady but if he was behind that line he'd get hammered.

I would build up the lines to help the running game and to stop the run.

How about 5 Offensive linemen, that can play in the NFL?

The truth si that Nick left when he realized that a total rebuilding project was needed and didn't want to try or thought he would not get the 5 years needed to do the job. Think of the Phsih as a expansion team and you would not be far off from reality.

what I'm interested to know is who he is going to pick as HC.

Tuna saving dolphins from flounders? The whole situation sounds pretty fishy to me. ;) I forecast a flood of aquatic metaphors from the media - we're going to be drowning in them. :D

Truthfully, Parcells will last at the most three years. He may help build a team, but has never stuck around long enough to really matter.

their O-line has been the best it's been in a while. Ronnie Brown was going to the pro-bowl before he got hurt.

I personally think the big attraction to Parcells is the potential to unseat Belichick and the Patriots.
He has been surpassed by his so-called protege by miles. I think he is taking a shot at his swan song being to build a team to overtake the Patriots, to make his legacy to be the guy who derailed the Patriot jugernaut.
Think about it. Lets say in 4 years Parcells builds a winner in Miami, and the Pats slide. Parcells can take credit for his final job being to show he finally one-upped BB.
Of course its a very, very long shot that he could live long enough to see that happen, but it gives him motivation, and a goal that is bigger than he could have anywhere else.
I think if the Pats were in the NFCS, Parcells would be in atlanta today.

Do any of you remember Parcells and his "If they want you to cook the dinner they should let you shop for the groceries" comment?

Now it seem seems he will buy the groceries -- Parcells is a hypocrite
