Members of 'Fringe' Alaskan Independence Party Say Palin Was a Member in 90s
    September 01, 2008 6:52 PM

The campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., likes to herald the independence of its new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always."

Someone on this board would be proud of her if she didn't want to be part of the US. Guess which one?

She's a member of most things Alaska ... that's called being informed and showing interest ... it's why she's such a popular governor. There's a few naive people here but i would never expect that one of them was you Sey.

WAS A MEMBER ... she also tried a few fattys ... doesn't do either anymore.

I have no problems with teenage drug experimentation, but what I do have a problem is with an aspiring Vice President who once was a card-carrying member of an organization which wants to break up the Union.

you cannot assume she wanted what they wanted. If she was on the board or held a position of power you could assume such a thing. Like i said ... these people are very tight and she may have been a member for a number of reasons ... none of which you know ... so you are assuming and portraying her like all the other leftys to suit your needs.

    You'll love this...

Joe Vogler, leader of the Alaskan Independence Party, had this to say:

"I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."

    http://www.akip.org/introduction.html

Why would someone wanting to be Vice President of the United States of America join an anti-American organization like this?

Why would someone wanting to be President of the United States of Americam be a 20 year member of a racist church?

Why would someone wanting to be President of the United States of
America allow his children to be baptized at the racist Holy Trinity Church?

Why would someone wanting to be President of the United States of
America befriend a radical Weather Underground Terrorist?

Once again, the Liberals are comparing their Presidential candidate with the other VP candidate. They are fairly comparable other than one's running for the varsity spot and the other for the JV.

You need to read the article instead of looking at the title.
She was a member in the 90's and quit when she ran for mayor.
You posting like wes now ... just reading titles?

The liberals see a title and they jump on it.
I wonder how many of them realize she was member in the 90's
and then quit when she ran for mayor ... oh ethics ... they won''t understand that.

When Palin's book says that this leader was one of her main mentors and inspirations growing up then that might both me a little - of course, all I've done is read the quote but assuming it was in context - but until then it's a total non issue. As opposed to the Good Reverend.

Palin seems more and more like a nutcase, but that would make her no worse than Cheney.

So she quit an organization dedicated to unamerican actives, when she ran for mayor. That is because she ceased supporting those value or because as a candidate for mayor it would be politically more expedient not to be a member of an organization that is unamerican?
