    I think we as fans, just like in society today, need to practice paitence... I hope fans dont wake up on Friday and expect

    1 We sign Julius Peppers
    2 trade Adailus Thomas to arizona for Bolden
    3 Sign Dansby
    4 Trade for Deion Branch
    5 Sign Wilfork to a long deal..

    There just some examples... Its going to be a long process.. Only for the simple reason, Alot of Buisness choices are going to get in the way of things... The Pats current mgmt are dealing with a nfl that have not experienced with before.. I think this offseason is going to be a long process and not any quick fixes will be had.. So please dont get upset that anything wont be done next week at this time, the Pats are going to be conservative in what and how they spend.. Its just going to take time..

    This year and every year. Like a team, the character of its fans are determined in adversity.

    Fans will follow their team and support and believe in it, good years and bad. "Next year they'll do it, you watch."

    Bandwagoners and others who need 'their' team to be a superbowl winner for whatever reason will continue to be bitterly disappointed with winning seasons and AFCE championships, and call fans 'homers' as though it were an insult.

    And of course, fans of other teams, both honest ones and stealth ones, will continue to mock and ridicule our team whether they win the superbowl or not.

    Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da, life goes on.

    Sean's posts are obviously as much an attempt at self-catharsis as anything...

    I do think its going to be a long drawn out FA process, not only for the Pats but for other teams.. Its a different era in the uncapped system, as to the capped system.. Smart buisness men will do what is right for the future, instead of go all out and buy a championship at all costs... But will see starting on Fri...

    Thanks "Pa." I guess my expectations are a lot lower than those you are projecting here.

    The first thing about Friday is that we will know whether there is any CBA action, and whether this is really going to be a no-cap year.

    Also, I expect to wake up Friday and find out which players have been extended and therefore not subject to free agency. This is a modest, critical. first step of free agency.
    ==============================================================
    There are several possibilities for extensions beyond signing long-term deals with Wilfork and Mankins.

    BODDEN
    BANTA-CAIN
    BURGESS
    GREEN
    FAULK
    WATSON
    ================================================================
    Also, we will know the tender levels for Woods, Mankins and Gostkowski.
    ===========================================================
    GUYTON and LOCKETT could also sign long-term deals, but this is unnecessary since, being ERFA's, they have no choice with regard to where they play.

    Wouldn't surprise me if we woke up Friday morning and heard about Wilfork being extended, as well as guys like Bodden, Faulk, and Banta-Cain. Because of the cap restrictions, they'd have to wait until the 5th to officially put pen to paper with these guys, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have handshake agreements with several of them.

    Those that think or believe that BB is not acting in the best interest of this team is not paying attention, skepticism is healthy.. but being a non believer and making statements that the Pats do not develop players is folly.. the glass is more than half full.

    I suspect somewhere in the bowels of Gillette is a plan, that all agree on.. and we will all have to wait and see how it develops.. I do think that there will be significant changes on both sides of the ball, moreso on the D side..

    Re: Patience will need to be had by fans...

    There is more than one prognostication that predicts the Pats will do little in FA and rely on the draft.

    With all the contracts the Pats must sign,it makes sense..I think its ridiculous to think that with all the contracts this team needs to get done with thier OWN players that they will go out and sign some big money players.

    WILL NOT happen and I would seriously bet on it if I could,The Pats WILL pick up some O.K. decent FA ,but they will be valued pickups as in 30 year old vets like a Thomas Jones for example.

    So even if theyve reached a deal with Wilfork or Bodden they wouldnt be able to finalize it until the 5th because of cap restrictions?

    well......ummmmm......the coaches and GMs of the lions have always acted in the best interest of the Lions....so what?

    just because you are acting on the best interest of the team does not mean you will make the right choices.......

    bottom line is the game passed by every single coach in the history of the game........its a matter of time before it passes BB by, also.....is it happening now? who knows

    Keep in mind we're still in the 2009-2010 season. March 5th is the beginning of the 2010-2011 season, and the year of the unrestricted cap. I'm no expert on this but I'm guessing you'll have to wait until then to finalize re-signings for the same reason that you'll have to wait until then to cut ties with guys like Adalius Thomas. Notice that very few other teams have re-signed their UFAs either, while it's pretty normal to see teams retain their UFAs before the beginning of free agency in other years.

    When Kraft was interviewed at the combine and said that they were nearing a deal with Wilfork, I got the feeling it was already done. Same goes with Bodden and mentioning that he wanted to stay in Foxboro above other considerations. The old stalwart Faulk hasn't been re-signed yet either and I think it's almost 100% that he will be back.

    Yeah I get what your saying and hope your right we wake up Friday morning and hear a couple of these guys are extended. Guess ive just been hoping I would hear somebody like Wilfork or Bodden extended before the fifth so their contracts wouldnt have any negative effect on the Pats trying to pursue any free agents they would be interested in.
