NBA Free Agents: Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade say they'll play for Miami Heat - ESPN

Most of you who know that I have two Florida teams know that they're the Gators and the Heat. Well, the Heat just improved significantly. Both Wade and Bosh say they'll be joining the Heat. We now have a team of Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Mario Chalmers, and Beasley. I hope we trade Beasley away for someone that can come in immediately and play center so we don't have to rely on throwing a rookie out there.

Now, I don't belong to a Heat board and I know you guys are Celts fans, but I guess I'll ask you anyway. If you were Heat fans, would you rather work out a sign and trade with LeBron or would you rather use the rest of the money to sign higher calibur role players to put around Wade and Bosh? Personally, I'm leaning toward the latter. LeBron can go play somewhere else for all I care.

Also, in true ESPN style, Wilbon asked Wade if he thinks the Heat are now the favorites in the Eastern Conference and, in Wade style, he stayed classy and said "no". Wade said he believed that the Celtics and the Magic are still the favorites in the Eastern Conference until something happened otherwise.

Yeah. I also don't think LeBron would subscribe to the idea of this being Wade's team. On top of that, I think Prokhorov has gotten the idea into James' head that joining Wade and Bosh would somehow diminish his product should they win a championship. In all, I think James is going back to Cleveland.

The pieces they add around them will determine how legitimate a contender they are. Still, I'd much rather be in the Heats position, than I would the Celtics. The C's are old, and maxed out with respect to the cap. Basically, they have a limited, and declining future. The Heat meanwhile, have 2 under 30 studs, whose positions complement each other, as well as cap space, and the lure that is South Beach (a total dump IMO. Been there, and I think it's as overrated as it gets. It is hot in the winter though.). The Heat are in an enviable position, but still behind the Magic and C's, as of today. If Lebron goes to Chicago (he and Bosh should have), then they move to the top IMO, although they would still need some perimeter shooting. Word is though, Lebron has chosen money and fame, as opposed to a ring, and is going to the Knicks. He'll never win a title if that is the case. Not until he's in his 30's, and moves ala the KG, Ray Allen, Pierce mix did.

bosh is unbelievably over rated in my opinion. if thats all they do this off season then don't look for much to change in miami.

I wouldn't crap on the Knicks just yet. They have Amare and have the financial ability to bring in pieces around those two. I actually hope he goes to New York. The Knicks and Heat haven't been a rivalry in quite a while, and that would pretty much renew it. As for Miami, I agree with you. They need more at this point than just Wade and Bosh, but it's a helluva start. Chalmers is good for few three pointers a game. Dexter Pittman, the rookie from Texas, could start the season at center. I hope they make a move to bring in someone else though (not sure who) so he can learn from the bench. If they can bring in guys like Ray Allen or Derek Fisher to help stretch the floor and a guy like Brandon Haywood who specializes in rebounding and blocking shots, and are able to fill out their bench with guys like Posey, House, Haslem, and maybe even Nate Robinson, then they should be in a great position to compete in the Eastern Conference. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of this plays out.

Considering the Heat only have Bosh, Wade, Chalmers, and Beasley (who is probably gone) on their roster right now, I don't think they're done yet. But you're entitled to your opinion.

Normally I'd say save the money and use the remaining money on quality role players, but in this case if I could add LeBron to that mix, I absolutely would

Although a lockout is looming I could see quality guys agreeing to play for the heat for considerably less than market value if they could get some quality minutes on a team that had a good shot at domination. That could translate into bigger bucks elsewhere if the team won a championship.

So if it were possible to get LeBron and the quality depth at a discount I'd do it.

Like I said, you're entitled to your opinion. Just know that virtually everybody (this includes multiple NBA franchises, talent scouts, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, as well as countless fans) disagree with you. The guy averaged 24 PPG and almost 11 RPG last season. I'd say he's a pretty solid player who should see his production improve when finally playing with a guard the calibur of Wade.

David Lee is a far better player than Bosh. But, suffers from a stereotype.

Maimi is such a fraud sports town, I hope this blows up in their face.

I'm not sure that Lebron will work on the Heat, with Wade and Bosh. Those 3 all need the ball in their hands, and each are in the prime of their careers. I don't see how they can coexist in harmony. If they do work together, they will all have to sacrafice lots, and lots of touches.

Bosh isn't overrated. He's just been on a bad team for a long time. Toronto has always been horrible. David Lee is terrific, but he's not a good defender, and plays in a system that is numbers oriented. If given the choice, I take Bosh over Lee, but I would probably take Lee over Boozer. Boozer is a very good player mind you. Not worth $80 million over 5 though.

Actually, the whole state of Florida is terrible outside of college allegiances. I can't tell you how many people I know that went from being Heat fans after 2006 to jumping on the Orlando bandwagon after last year, to now jumping back on the Heat bandwagon all of the sudden. It's terrible. But I've been a Heat fan since their Knicks days and became an even bigger one after they landed Wade. I was there in 2007 when they were the worst team in the league and I'm here now. If they land LeBron, I don't see how it can blow up in their face.

And money. I think all three of them know that going in, should he join the Heat. And they showed they could co-exist on the Olympic Team. It's not like it hasn't happened before.

As evidenced by the fact that Jermaine O'Neal is seriously considering playing for the Celts at below market value, although the Heat won't have much money to spend I think they'll be able to fill the roster with role players worth more than what they'll sign for.

We're talking 1-2 year contracts only as they'll hope to make more in the market after playing on a Championship team.

All of this activity in the Eastern Conference is of course unfortunate for the Celts - but I think they've proven that even if one comes into the playoffs as the 8th seed, and veterans are rested and healthy, that one extra road game in the playoffs isn't something all that difficult to overcome.

Miami, having that "new" Big Three I think would undoubtedly be the dominant team in the NBA if they remain healthy - but that's often a big "if" and anything can happen in a 7 game series.

It will be fun to watch - I have no inherent dislike for LeBron, Wade or Bosh - and I think most basketball fans have an immense amount of respect for them all as players. This will be very interesting to watch if rumors are true.
