    Have you been/lived there?

Speaking from experience... you don't want to be in Ontario, it's awful. Couldn't tell you much about the other provinces, except Vancouver is terrible as well.

On what basis are you claiming that Vancouver is terrible? Hear me Patriots Nation, Vancouver is one of the absolute most beautiful cities in all of the world. That comes from experience of living here for the last 12 years and wanting to live there for the 23 years before that while growing up on the prairies.

I've been numerous times. The landscape itself is definitely nice, and Stanley Park and the green space and such is nicely laid out, making it very nice aesthetically. Of course you can't discount the fact that it rains 5 days a week and over 50% of the population is either Asian or Indian, with probably 80% of those speaking God knows what languages all over town. The traffic is terrible too and just the city in general is crowded and congested. This is mainly downtown of course... just outside Vancouver, especially an hour or two to the east, is gorgeous.

Re: OT? Somebody Get a YOuTube of the Reebok Boston Sports Commercial

Its not over 50% asian, but even if it were, is that a bad thing? I suppose in order for a city to be good in your mind it would have to be over 80% irish or italian? Do you have a problem with italians speaking italian, french speaking french? Or is it just the asian languages?

Edit: Here's the ethnic breakdown...Asian % is very high compared to the average city, not 50%

I love how a thread turns from a request for a video to a goddamn racial discussion.

Re: OT? Somebody Get a YOuTube of the Reebok Boston Sports Commercial

I think he was referring to the number of people who didn't speak English. Asians & Indians being among them. Mulitiple languages does turn off a lot of people especially if it involves a high % of the population.

That's not prejudice or racial, it's just a pain in the neck.

Lot of Scottish & Irish...so the beer selection must be pretty good! ;)

Re: OT? Somebody Get a YOuTube of the Reebok Boston Sports Commercial

I agree that when people move permanently to the US/Canada, they should make an attempt to learn english (for their own benefit...not for others). And I think employers should make sure employees who talk to customers (eg, something as simple as a cashier) can adequately speak english.

What people speak amongst themselves socially is their own perogative though. They speak a foreign language either because they're more comfortable with it, or for privacy.

I guarantee you that if most americans knew a second language (that wasn't known by the majority), they would speak in it amongst their friends/family so that they can talk openly in public. Just because most americans don't know a foreign language, doesn't mean they have to dislike foreigners for having that ability.

Also, having travelled to many countries, and having lived in Tokyo for a year (without knowing Japanese, except for a few phrases), we americans are quite lucky in that we can travel almost anywhere and find people who speak english to help us out.

Completely disagree. You immigrate to our country, you learn our customs and leave everything else behind.

How stupid is that sentiment? Everyone immigrated to this country which is why we have the Irish and St. Patrick's Day and Italian-Americans who are very proud of their heritage and various other groups that haven't "left everything else behind." If you were first generation and understood anything about American history you wouldn't be making such stupid comments.

Re: OT? Somebody Get a YOuTube of the Reebok Boston Sports Commercial

My mother is a first generation immigrant and she agrees almost 100% with that sentiment. My brothers and I grew up speaking english, she wouldn't speak german to us and didn't teach it to us until we had moved back to Germany when I was 13.

Maybe neither you nor drew4008 should be making completely blanket statements like that.
