Just watching the Broncos/Seahawks game on NFLN, and it was an eerie reminder of what happened of what happened to Tommy a year ago. In a play almost, actually just, like the one that put #12 on the shelf Chris Simms dropped back to pass, stepped into the throw, and had a Seahawk defender who was being blocked down to the ground lunge for his leg. Simms' leg bent and went directly to the turf before hobbling off to the sidelines.

Looks like he's okay and the fact that he went off under his own power is a good thing. Seahawks were assessed the penalty.

Brady pretty much went off under his own power too. It didn't look all that serious at first.

    Hope Simms is OK though.

Brady walked off the field under his own power.

Simms really can't catch a break.

He's not that great at throwing either.

He has a lot more zip in his pass than Kyle Orton

Oh lovely.... seems the only break Simms can get is on some part of his body.

You're right. It's odd that some very good NFL athletes just get injured over and over again. What is the current life-span of an NFL player?

    Yeah...

Man, I remember seeing John Hannah about 2 years after he retired. He looked like someone had worked him over with a 2X4, and he walked very precariously.

The man was a paragon of good manners, happy to talk for a couple minutes, shook my hand and didn't appear to be upset at all about some guy walking over to say thank you to him for all his years with the Pats.

But he looked old for his years, and you could tell he'd paid dearly for all those accolades.

I have a soft spot for linemen. QB's can gain a God-like stature in the game, but it will never happen without the blood, sweat, and tears of the O-line who give him the time to find a receiver, to scramble, to make a play. They sell their bodies out, and for a lot less than they are worth, and rarely get their due in the papers, unless they make a mistake of some sort.

56 years years. That's a high price for a few fleeting years of semi-fame.
