Cubs just signed Theo
There goes my entertainment for my morning and afternoon commute for a while...this current Red Sox team is so unlikeable and pathetic that its a wonder anyone wants to talk about them.
So what you're saying is I'm going to have to continue to not listen to "Sports talk" radio?
I'm a fan of both teams. But, the Red Sox players lack of committment is startling. Can you imagine BB putting up with non-sense like that? It's easy to see why one organization excels on an even playing field. While the other. They do have 2 rings. But, can't put it together despite a huge advantage in payroll over every team in the AL except the Yankees can't make it as a wild-card 2 straight years.
just for the records, they did not sign him. Nothing official until later today or by the end of the week
The sad thing is you can finally say that this is not definitely a Red Sox town anymore and yet, the radio stations talk far more about them. The Sox popularity is at a decades long low. Their TV ratings are in the toilet. Even though the Sox deny it, there are a lot of games that aren't sellouts (at least a lot of people who have tickets don't go). People seemed apathetic about the team until they totally collapsed and Tito was fired (oh, um.... quit) and now Theo is gone.
The Pats popularity is at a high even after the lockout and at the very least about equally as popular as the Sox now. The Bruins and Celts have syphoned off some of the Sox's popularity too. Yet, for the last few weeks, it is baseball all the time. This is easy to explain because talk show hosts are lazy and it is far easier to generate four hours of people rehashing the same issues of a major controversy than generate talk about a football team that is 4-1.
I'm in my car all day....so I depend on my Pats talk to get me through the day. Instead I get to listen to "clubhouse talk" Pathetic
I like baseball only when they talk about the "game" itself. But, half the time its like listening to a chick talk about "The days of our lives"
My most hated baseball teams:
1. New York Yankees
2. Boston Red Sox
Why anyone watches MLB anymore is beyond me.
That business model is so screwed up and the inmates run the asylum.
Baseball fans in this era are simply Masochists.
I hate baseball....
This is their opportunity to hire Billy Beane
Sirius XM Radio. The radios start at $50, and the subscription is $13 per month.
I have yet to see any football fan say it isn't worth it.
Patriots.com Radio. Listen online, or if you prefer or can't do that then download the podcasts to listen when you want.
PatsCast.net - again, listen online to our own Jay Shields, or download the podcasts.
Pats Propaganda - same deal.
I understand that it's not as simple as hitting the power button on your car radio, but to me at this point anybody that is still stuck listening to terrestrial radio and not liking what they hear needs to figure out a solution, rather than complain about it. It's really not that difficult to find alternatives to get your fill of talk about the Pats and the NFL.
I dont want to help turn this thread/site into a long Sox discussion, but the idea that BB would tolerate for a nano-second players going into the clubhouse during a game for a beer, regardless of the name or salary involved, is laughable. Tito shares the same responsibility as the players for the Sox mess, IMHO.
I follow all the Boston teams, but you are right, baseball is screwed up. How MLB expects to cultivate new fans in a city like Pittsburgh or KC is beyond me. One thing that I really like about the NFL is that it is a level playing field in terms of finances. You can't simply outspend the other teams by a factor of 3 or 4.
Soap opera drama is the lifesblood of sports talk radio and nowhere is that more evident than Boston or NY.... That's part of the reason that despite consistently winning the NEP bore the snot out of mediots... Unhappy callers are their true core demographic.
Yup. I had to be out in the car for a bit a few weeks ago, and heard that Breer would be on 98.5; figured it would be worthwhile because he's a good football guy. Usually. But the subject of the day was how BB didn't directly answer Breer's question about whether Haynesworth was "a good guy." (BB gave his usual answer about AH doing everything he was asked to and working hard blah blah.) One of the producer guys was particularly indignant, saying that Breer is a legitimate reporter and knows football and BB disrespected him. Well, I agree: Breer knows football. So ... why ask the soap opera question?
I remember that day .. I texted the show about 10 times in that span calling that producer all types of names .. He was literally in tears ..
Not only that, but EVERY NFL team is a national team.
Ask yourselves this: Does anyone outside of Kansas City give a crap about the Kansas City Royals? Can anyone outside of KC name ONE Royal (I'm sure some can, but I can't).
You'll find Kansas City Chiefs fans sprinkled all over the country. More people across the country know who Matt Cassel or Dwayne Bowe is than the most famous Royal.
The NFL is America's League.
The nation won't care who wins the Brewers-Rangers World Series.
Is this Pats related?
maybe .. maybe not
Separate names with a comma.
