69 years ago today, Pearl Harbor was attacked in what was the most tragic act of war committed against the United States of America to that point in it's history. 2402 Men and women were killed that day. 1,282 more were wounded. It's a day that changed the course of American history.

Please take a moment to remember the men and women who died this day.

    Thank you.

It seems like Pearl Harbor is unfortunately starting to be forgotten about, due to it being so long ago that few were alive to remember it. Not to diminish 9/11, but this was an even bigger event, and a bigger threat to our country.

I don't want to make this political - just want to point out that the old man you see in the store or that gray haired neighbor of yours that responded to Pearl Harbor are true heroes.

Let's all thank the Jets for re-creating last night what it was like for the victims of the attack on Pearl Harbor. 12/06/10, never forget.

Because it's classy to not be able to take a joke! (It's usually a certain sort of person who complains about 'classy' or 'classless'. Are you one of those people?)

Apple - Did you ever stop to think that there are things you shouldn't joke about?? Someone asking for a time of reflection regarding our men and women in uniform is one of those things.

Absolutely ... still a moving experience for those that visit there.

My dad is a chiseled old air force man who was stationed in Brazil in WWII as an airplane mechanic. he visited the memorial in the 90's and it brought him to tears ... never saw him cry ... ever until that day.

Wow, amazing pic. I knew that the memorial was built on the grounds of the USS Arizona but I've never seen an aerial shot like that.

I ask my wife's Grandparents quite often about their memories of WWII (her Grandfather was deployed to Japan shortly after the war). Their accounts of Pearl Harbor and how our country reacted and then assembled and fought in the war always amaze me.

I'm reading about the death toll from WWII and the US alone lost 416,000 in military conflict. And total deaths around the world at approximately 60 million. It is just staggering!

God bless all past and present who serve our country and our allies against tyranny!

It can also be seen from space, here is a view from Google Maps. I went to the Memorial once and it is such a beautiful monument, and I feel it is a wonderful tribute and way to honor the men still entombed below. The debt we all owe them can never be repaid.

Between this and the crap you pulled on 9/11, you should be permanently banned. What utter garbage.

Anyway, thanks for posting this, DaBruinz.

Here's another picture I found some time ago on a Navy website which I think is really cool. Tough for me to see this without getting choked up.

Yes, so true - they deserve our thoughts and reflections for Dec 7th and for their service and sacifice. We so owe our parents and grandparents for how they responded, and for what they accomplished back in those very dark days when we faced an enemy on two fronts. They haven't been called "the greatest generation" for nothing.

Thank you........and thank you again, for we owe you a huge debt of grattitude.

No problem, Kontra. Anyone who knows me, knows that I take things like Pearl Harbor, 9/11, the POWs & MIAs and all veterans very seriously. Mainly because they were able to do something that I was not. And that is serve proudly in my country's military. For that, they have my eternal respect and gratitude.
