Phins players now have the playbook on iPads. Will be fined for using iPad on Youtube, Twitter, etc. Funny comment by the writer about newbie Ocho and possible Twitter fines.

Dolphins to be fined $10K for unauthorized iPad use

OK, OK. It's the dead zone season. Just move this off the main forum if your panties get jammed up.

I wonder if they will also be fined for watching panties getting jammed up on some site on the iPad?

i dont think anyone has been fined yet? It just says
    'ocho likes to use twitter'.
'twitter can be accessed via an ipad'.
'the dolphins gave their players ipads'.

    big deal

also who cares if they use their ipads for other reasons. Its stupid for them to have to carry around two ipads/laptops around the house. if you're going to give a player a digital device, just let them use it for their personal uses as well.

Yes, because you want people surfing the net going god knows where, downloading who knows what onto a digital device that has your playbook on it. Afterall, we know the interwebz is a safe place.

You would think a company with the resources of an NFL team could provide the play books on iPads that are customized to not allow Internet access at all, or perhaps just severely limited ones. Seems like an unnecessary temptation as is.

Appropriately, I'm typing this on an iPad, haha.

I'm pretty sure most have their own ipads anyways. So now they have two. One for their playbook and their own. So they will just use their own. So I don't really get the big deal here. Do writers really have nothing else to write about?

Kind of like two cell phones. One for work and one for personal. Or One for everything and the other for the mistress. LOL!!

Do iPads come with built in cameras?

If so, how long after the Phins lose to the Pats will it take for some random phins fan to say BB must have remotely accessed the iPad cameras to record the new-look phins during practice or in the team meetings?

I used to sit and wait for the Honeymooners to come on after supper when we all gathered around in the living room and turned on the THIRTEEN INCH BLACK AND WHITE TELEVISION...

IPads, launchpads, crash pads ...maxipads...hard to believe we ever got by before the invasion of the "pads"

iPads can be used on the sidelines. You know how they have that giant phot printer that prints those black and white photos on the sidelines that they review? Just have the photos on the iPads. It's quicker.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. If they didn't want the players using it they could have easily given them a device that only had the playbook on it. And how are they going to track that? Just another stupid thing from a horrific ownership group.

I bet they didn't even think of trying to load game film on it either...

Honestly, I DON'T think it would be so to just give players a light, portable device with a super high-res color monitor that can run a wide range of multimedia content (so that the playbook becomes more than just a "book") and can be centrally updated on an ongoing basis...but doesn't do anything else. What kind of device would that be?

All they're saying is "this is your work computer, only use it for work." That's pretty normal, and a reasonable precaution for security and to avoid embarrassing situations. (Paging Brandon Spikes!)

Hmm.. I wonder what the league is going to say about it. They have specific rules against using any devices that can PLAY video during games.

Is there any indication that they plan to use this during games?

There are multiple companies whose sole existence is modifying versions of android for companies for both security and useability. Any one of these companies could modify a tablet so it can view the playbook, update instantly from a team server, and run any app the team wants it to run, while also making it impossible to run anything else.

To just put your playbook on a normal Ipad is insane. This opens it up to any hacker who happens to have the ability to steal the entire thing. And Apple has a history of not being able to protect their devices security.

It will only take one person for the Dolphins playbook to be on the internet, available to everyone.

Apple's excellent record on security is one of its advantages over other companies.
