Can anyone explain to me the clock management by Pete Carroll at the end of the USC - UCLA game? USC turns the ball over with 1:10 to go trailing 13-9, but they have three time outs and figure to get the ball back with 45 seconds to go.
But, inexplicably, they call time out after the turnover WHILE the clock is stopped. Result was UCLA was punting with 15 seconds to go instead of 45. Game over.
I couldn't believe it. Of course, none of the announcers said anything about it, but such a bonehead play turned a difficult but possible task into a miracle.
Did anyone else think the same thing?
