Thank God. The Sillynannies vs. the Superclassies. A match-up for the ages.

I feel bad for David Patten.

An outstanding decision. New Orleans seems like a perfect region of the country to strip 1/8 of their football revenue and export it to Europe.

They could have at least sent them to the Netherlands to see a flood prevention system that works...

I'd love for New England to go play over there...

during a rebuilding year, probably 2018.

Wow, that's a long haul for SD. For real, almost twice as far as it would be for NE or NYG/NYJ.

    Oh well. :D

I would be surprised if there wasn't a revenue sharing "exception" for the teams that do this, or some other way to help them break even, if they don't just from selling out Wembley.

I mean, its not like the owners are doing this to each other as punishment.

what excuse? it's a vacation, they didn't take away a home game for us, and it's definately not going to be a home field advantage for the aints

    this is great
  12. Let's all hope they don't create international embarassment with their customary whining.

The owner will make up any lose revenue because of lost ticket sales at the superdome with ticket sales at Wembley. The NO economy won't.

The hotel that houses the media, the SD chargers team and its fans won't be sending a cut to the hotel that would have housed them.

Nor the local restaurants or bars.

The parking lot down the street that will not have a game day parking special 3 times its normal daily rate, won't make up the lost revenue. The parking attends that would have worked that day won't be getting paid.

The guys and gals who sell t-shirts, peanuts, game programs, beer and assorted other stuff outside the stadium will lose 1/8 their business for the year.

The employees who clean the bathrooms, sell the beer, and take tickets on game day won't be getting their game check, even thought the players will.

Nor will Charger fans return to SD with stories of how much fun they had NO, prompting others to be tourists for completely non-football related reasons.

The owners of the Saints won't take a hit, but the wrong city will.

No, the NFL choose the wrong city to hit with a huge economic lose.

    Now that's comedy!

My hat is off to you sir (or madame).

We'll see how classy the Chargers are after a week of drinking warm beer, having to deal with fog, and people who talk funny. (UK Pats fans, I'm not busting on you. I'm just trying to see this trip through the eyes of Mr. Classy LdT...Oh, and if you're going to the game, let me know just how classy he is)

In a funny sort of way, I'm rather relieved. I would prefer to watch the Pats in New England and I like a large enough number of you not to deprive you of a home game.

I have to admit to a large degree of ambivalence. On one hand, I really do think that an expanded NFL has a future in the long term (i.e. when plane travel makes it viable) and I think that Football is such a good game that the more people who get to see it, the better. The interest in the game is increasing again and the NFL clearly sees an emerging market.

I love the Pats but have always loved the game itself. I think that there is a bigger, and more knowledgeable, fanbase here than many people realise. I would get away from stereotypes about British sports fans, as we are a country of 60 million diverse people.

On the flip side, it is a heck of a trip for teams to have to do mid-season and it deprives some fans of seeing their teams eight times per season. I'm not sure about culture shock, as I haven't been to the US. Those of you who have been to London *recently* or vice versa would be in a better position to comment.

I would quite like to go to the game, but I would also be happy to make sure that a ticket goes to someone who didn't get to see the 2007 one.

If you go, make a "Classy" sign with an arrow pointing to you...and hold it up while wearing a Pats jersey. ;)

Ah, yes, I had forgotten about that. When I apply for a ticket, they may ask me if I am a fan of the classy Chargers. As a fan of the Cheatriots, they may not want me to sully the atmosphere. :(

Say "Dude", "Fer shure" and "Like" when getting your tickets and they'll think you're from San Diego. :D
