Staff Sgt. Robert Bales was found liable in financial fraud - The Washington Post
About a decade ago, Marc Edwards opened a brokerage firm with a high school buddy/teammate of his, even though that buddy had committed serious fraud at his previous job (hopefully unbeknownst to Edwards). The company didn't survive long. (At a guess, his partners didn't drum up enough business to keep going once whatever money he'd staked them to ran out.)
That buddy was Robert Bales, the US soldier who recently murdered 16 Afghan civilians.
