Hasn't Gruden said a couple of times that Brady is the best QB in the game?

Yes, most recently in the promo for the KC game. Called Brady "the best in the business."

That's the thing, it's a 'flavor of the week' sort of thing.

If it were the Jets vs. Jaguars I'm sure he'd be saying that Mark Sanchez is the best QB in the AFC.

Gruden is saying that because he knows Turner is going to be fired and he would like to live in sunny So. Cal for the next few years.

    He doesn't actually mean it.

    Pretty much this.

Florio actually just put up a decent :)eek:) article regarding Gruden always being so positive in the media.

I think he's called about a dozen different quarterbacks the best in the game so far this season.

Gruden's overwhelming praise of any and every player makes his compliments meaningless. His desire to return to the NFL - and therefore have zero bridges burnt while working in television - at least offers a reason as to why every single player he talks about is a future hall-of-famer.

Gruden supposedly asked for the clause in his contract that would allow him to opt out for a HC gig to be removed.

He isn't trying to keep everyone on his side because he wants back in so bad, he's trying to talk up obviously bad teams for the sake of making it sound like better TV.

How is that so hard to understand? The dude was a head coach in the NFL, do you think he really believes that the Chargers or Jags are great teams? Or that Rivers is better than Brady Schaub, or Big Ben this season? No. It's talking for the sake of talking. It is what he's paid to do. He's the color commentator. He has to say these things to make the game sound good, better than it really is.

Gruden loves what he does, and if the thing about him asking for the opt-out of his contract to be removed, he isn't going anywhere for a long time.

Who the hell is going to watch a game advertised as "The worst two teams of the AFC's worst two divisions battle it out for last place!"

Come on, there isn't a QB's arse Gruden doesn't kiss or hyperbole he doesn't spout on MNF. "This guy" should take a job in PR because no one talks up a QB like him.

Remember a few weeks ago when he spouted out how he was excited to see Tyler Palko play?

Gruden knows his football stuff. But when he's talking about a player it always seems like he's in love with the guy hahaha.
