    NFL.com: Vick Released

Says that no-one was willing to trade for him. Some team will give him a shot if he has his suspension lifted.

    Bengals need a back-up??? ;)

Considering the Athlete, I find it amazing that they could not come together with someone on a trade.

Considering the crime, I understand teams wanting to stay away from him.

There are a lot more people in the country that love Animals, than follow/love football. He's gonna have a hell of time when he comes back.

And clearly no on wants him in 31 other citys as well (including East Rutherford, New Jersey - As I only recognize one team from the city of NY, NY.)

I do hear the new football league may be the place for him.

Felt from the beginning that he will never play in the NFL, too much of a liability, except maybe in Oakland...

Forget about the crime/public relations nightmare and questions about his throwing accuracy and rust for a moment. Dimitroff and the Falcons were just hoping some sucker would take Vick's contract off their hands and save themselves some cap space. That was the real deal breaker that stopped any team from trading for him.

Vick's contract had him receiving a base salary of $9 million plus a bonus of $6.43 million this year. Overall the balance of the contract was worth over $45 million and ran through the 2013 season. Even Al Davis wouldn't trade for a player with that kind of contract.

The fact that nobody would trade for him should be of no surprise at all considering the contract that team would inherit. Now the question is who will be the first team to show interest in signing him as a free agent.

I thought it was funny that Jim Mora who is now the HC of the Seahawks says the league should allow Vick to play again and that he deserves a second chance but at the same time he says the Seahawks are not interested.

Is Mora a hypocrite or what? - Its not like the Seahawks are loaded at QB - He is spouting crap because he liked his former QB but he knows Vick is a bum and should just shut up - Mora must be good friends with Rex Ryan - both don't know when to stay quiet.

I thought they released him shortly after he was arrested. They've been holding onto his rights all this time? Did that count against their salary cap?

Falcons release Michael Vick - Atlanta Business Chronicle:=

Apparently the Falcons will take a cap hit of $7-$8 million for cutting Vick. As I recall, they did not want to release him two years ago because the cap hit would have been higher, and also because it would have hurt their chances in their attempt to recover some of the signing bonus.

How is that being a hypocrite? Just b/c he thinks he deserves a second chance doesn't mean he has to bring him onto his team. There are many reasons he may not want Vick on his team, such as not fitting his system.

what i got out of what hes trying to say is that something similar happened to a QB Mora liked, and he said the same thing about that QB....

now hes staying on the same line of thought to defend the QB he likes....

otherwise i agree with u, the two things are completely separate

You have to remember that if a team trades for him, they get his current contract and are on the hook for the big salary he is scheduled to make.

Now that he has been cut, a team can sign him for as little as he will accept, probably vet min, and can build in an no-fault release into the contract

Not really. At least I don't see it that way.

I think there is a difference between saying he should be allowed to play and saying I want him to play for us.

No, Mora doesn't want him, but that doesn't mean Mora wants the NFL to ban him. Let the guy play if he can find a team that will take him. Maybe he thinks Plaxico should be allowed to play, too, and Favre, and Monty Beisel. Doesn't mean he wants them in Seattle.

Hmmm. This begs a question: Is there a issue for which you DO consider Mora Jr a hypocrit?

    Disable Jersey

I'd wager that there is, somewhere, since pretty much everyone does or says something hypocritical at one point or another. For Mora, it's not this issue, though.
