From his Q&A on the Colts' site:

    http://colts.com/sub.cfm?page=article7&news_id=a944a52a-fe00-45a7-ab03-3aef537264a3

Ok, so just because the replay official was the only one who saw that the Colts clearly got a generous spot, Polian will need to talk to the league about it at the appropriate time. What exactly is he going to talk to them about? That it is an unwritten league rule that the refs must give the Colts generous spots like the one in the Pats game where a Joseph Addai rush was about a yard behind the marker before the commercial and then marked just over the first down marker when they come back from a commerical break?

The replay clearly showed as both Madden and Michaels pointed out that Addai did not get to the first down marker in the Chargers game. He needed to get to the six. Originally, the refs spotted him at the 5 yards and about 10 inches mark where he clearly landed about the 6 1/2 yard line. Where exactly is the beef here?

Funny, Polian praises the refs when all the questionable calls went his way in the Pats/Colts game. Now neither he nor Dungy can stop complaining either to the press or the league about the calls when all the bad calls went against them in the Chargers game. By the way, the only bad call I really saw in the Chargers was the whistle on the interception. I actually thought the false start call was correct because Utect clearly was trying to similate a snap and not just go in motion.

The refs missed a PI against the Bolts as well. An understandable human oversight miss as slow motion replay showed it; it was not blatant.

    Polian is such a whiner.

Hopefully Goodall will tell Polian to get the f*ck away and leave him alone. If one thing is obvious by now it's that Goodall isn't gonna take any sh!t; the fact that he had Feirera talk to him about the bullsh!t officiating we got in the Colt game shows me that he's not Polian's puppet. I'm as pissed as anyone about the way Goodall handled Spygate but I am confident that comments like "We’ll discuss that with the league office at the appropriate time" aren't going to get Polian very far.

Polian's claim is pretty much "I wanted the spot to be a first down, but it wasn't. I will complain about this."

I doubt it is stupidity. It might just be harassment of the league to goad them into making favorable calls for Indy later on. It seems to be a big part of his job.

I hope you are correct but you're reading meaning into his meeting with the officials that may not be there. Polian is a major influence in the league and has a much closer relationship with the officials than Kraft & company.

Word to Bill Polian, no one thought Addai made that first down, no one did. It was unbelievably clear on the replay that the ball was clearly short of the 6 yard line. Your corrupt official gave you a generous spot, as they usually do. Problem is that because it's within the last 2 minutes of the game, the play by rule HAD TO BE REVIEWED, THANKFULLY the corrupted official was smacked for his bogus spot and the correct spot was made.

Bill you have absolutely NOTHING to complain about, the calls you got in that Patriot game were so one-sided it should cover you for the next 5 seasons.

The problem is that while I agree he is an insufferable whiner, he most certainly is not insane. He knows that the more he whines, the more future calls he will get for his team. It is a strategy that has proven to be a very successful one.

    Exactly.

What on earth can he "discuss with the league office at the appropriate time"? That they were given a bad spot and had it corrected by instant replay?

Clealy the man is mostly ego.

I say let him rave on. The rest of the league and the country is seeing this deranged sociopath for exactly what he is. At some point, with all of this, he is going to make so many enemies within the league that there won't be any more room on the "Grassy Knoll" for any more gunmen (configuratively speaking), that the league is eventually going to be forced to have the Colts to do something about this guy, or they will pay a hefty penalty for it, one way or another.

I don't think he's insane, but I do think he should be fined by the league for public disparagement of the officials. Seriously, you're not supposed to do that.

I guess Polian thinks that the refs, and the rest of the country is off it's rocker and i guess we all need to go make an appointment at lenscrafters and get our eyes checked. Obviously we are all wrong and what we saw is not what we thought we saw. Sorry Mr. Polian our bad!

If I were Goodell, I'd tell him to STFU or I'll kick your ass off the board. You want to mess with me? I'll make sure you NEVER get a break on the field.

I think he is insane. This may not be a great example of it, but you can be an insane genius. Polian is clearly a very bright guy, but he is also out of his mind. You aren't sane when you throw someone against the wall because they refuse to move speakers farther from the field or jump around and cheer in the press box when it is a rule that there is no cheering allowed in the press box or publically asking for someone to break the opposing team's player's leg as the GM of the team.

Funny thing is, we would not have heard anything from this lunatic if Adam hits that field goal. Nothing, crickets........................The lunacy, to actually make that statement that the whole country saw it was a 1st down, what in the world is this guy talking about, it's the EXACT OPPOSITE Bill, NO ONE DID.

Someone should really put a list together of all the complaints this guy has filed with the NFL in the past decade... I bet that would be comical.

I think he might be insane yet functional. I've come across several people in my life who I would say weren't sane but could function in society. Polian might have Borderline Personality Disorder or Narcissistic Personality Disorder. These people can be brilliant at their jobs but otherwise delusional, obsessive, vindictive and nutty as a fruitcake.

So true. Squeeky wheel gets that future good call because they don't want to have to see that face (oh man what a face) yelling at them. ;)
