Mark Moseley of the Redskins is the only place kicker to win the NFL MVP award. The year was 1982.

And the crazy thing is, he missed 3 extra points that year.

Think he will make it to the hall of fame? Or will he suffer the same fate as Ray Guy?

Game tying playoff field goals in a snowglobe: 1

Game winning playoff field goals in a snowglobe: 1

Game winning Super Bowl field goals: 2

If that doesn't get him into the Hall, nothing will.

I have no ill will towards AV. The Colts outbid the Pats end of story. In fairness to AV, BB kept franchising him when all along he wanted a longer term deal. It is understood that BB wanted him, but dragged his feet in the process.

In 2006, AV received a 3 year deal for $6m w/ $3.5m bonus.

In 2010, Ghost got a 4yr/$14 million deal w/ $5 million in guaranteed money.

Incredible how the money for kickers has skyrocketed.

Still love AV, he may have joined the Colts, but he's still as huge a part of our success as Brady and Belichick.

Greatest kicker ever, with the greatest of respect to the likes of Stenerud and co.

Have such huge respect for AV. The guy has stone cold blood in his veins when the game in on the line. He makes a 50 yd FG and the ball hits the net so strong you knew he'd have made a 60-65 yd FG with that kick.
Adam is ridiculous. :rocker:

I think he deserves to be in the HOF. I think it's sad how few STers are in the HOF. Guys like, well, Guy, Tasker, and AV deserve it.

I was watching and saying, "I don't think he has the leg anymore for that kind of kick", and he nailed it with plenty of leg to spare. That kick was high on the net and right down the middle. I hate to quote Tony Dungy, but, "Money" was how he describing AV in the Colts - Ratbirds game. And that is what he is.

He made a field goal in the bitter cold against Tennessee, a Divisional game I think (the one where Drew Bennett dropped a key pass late). QUite a kick considering the weather and the situation.

They show a stat that Vinatihero was 43/52 in playoffs. Despite the 2 vs the Panthers, what other FG has he missed?

He is the GOAT at his position. Im literally freaking out with Graham, the ultimate choker, at K .

He missed one vs Den in the 05 Div. I'd need to go back and look at the others....

While I understand the concerns about Graham, I wonder if everyone would have had the same concerns about Gostkowski who was shaky both of our last 2 playoff trips?

Adam kicked the Colts into a superbowl in 2006 when the Colts via Dungy were trying to forge a team as opposed to a supporting cast for Manning. But the think BB was afraid of raised it head the next couple of season as Adam struggled with health issues and people forget the Colts carried seperate kickoff specialists and backups for a while as a result. That was what BB wasn't willing to commit to live through because roster spots are so valuable. The Colts are more inclined to hang onto their struggling/injured stars because they don't have much behind them. That has become somewhat of their downfall over the last couple of seasons.

BTW Polian has chosen his fall guys for last night already, Special Teams...

The thing I can stand the least about Polian is his lack of personal accountability. There is a lot wrong with that team coaching and personnel wise and the wrongs have been piling up and not dealt with for quite a long time now. Even as he appointed his own son as his successor... I think that's why Dungy took early retirement - he saw the handwriting on the wall and he got out while the getting was good.

The question is that Im concerned with Gostkowski too

The numbers back you up as Gost is 1 for his last 3 playoff FGs but I don't think hes the second coming of Scott Norwood quite yet.

I think you also have to add in the shanked kick-off out of bounds in the Super Bowl. That likely played a part in BB passing on a FG well within Ghost's range before halftime to instead try a low percentage 4th down conversion.

That game never happened :p

Funny I was watching with my brother and I said I know this is stretching his range but is there any question whether he is going to nail this. The guy is money and I think the Pats should still put him in the Pats Hall of Fame and he should definitely be in the NFL Hall of Fame and he should be first ballot. How someone could see Adam come up on the ballot and not vote him in would be insane.

Adam V. is the Tom Brady of kickers ... plain and simple.

Adam Vinatieri Playoffs Game Log - Pro-Football-Reference.com

He made
2/3 vs Jax 1/12/97
1/3 vs Mia 12/28/97
1/2 vs Pitt 1/27/02
1/2 vs Tenn 1/10/04
1/3 vs Car SB 38
2/3 vs Den 1/14/06
3/4 vs Chi SB 40

He has made 19 of his last 20 with Indy and the year they won the Super Bowl, they scored 105 points in the post season. AV scored 42 of those points and was 14/15 on FGA.....

Graham is perfect with us this year guys, haha... he should be getting praise, not skepticism.
