    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

    They didn't say all straight men so really for me the origins or history are irrelevant. When I hear the holy rollers talk about the loss of personal freedoms that will result from a liberal government I think what they are really saying is they will lose their self perceived right to dictate what personal freedoms people should have as judged by their moral compass. I could go into civil liberties for all citizens as dictated by the constitution as well but won't.

    Which brings us full circle to why Romney and especially Ryan lost the election by driving off fiscal conservatives like myself who are socially liberal. Until they separate church and state in their agenda as it should be they'll continue to lose ground.

    I will be trashed soundly for this one but it's true, isn't it.

    Personally I believe live and let live, do as ye wish and may God be with thee.

    My View:
    God or something else created a Vagina on a women, then a Penis was created on a man, when the man inserted the Penis into the Vagina both the man and the women felt great pleasure, this pleasure motivated the man and the women to continue this physical union and in doing so created life, reproduction of the species, that was the plan, life would go on.

    God or something else created The Anal Canal For The Emission Of Human Waste.

    can anyone pinpoint them moment intercourse went from being a reproductive need to being 'sex'?

    I'll repeat this link for the sake of discussion, referencing the underlying physiological determination of sexual orientation:

    Also, the American Psychological Association declared in 1975 that gay/lesbian/bisexual orientation is not a mental illness or disorder:

    Finally, I have a few gay friends I've discussed this with. Each said their sexual orientation was (A.) not a matter of choice and (B.) something they realized before entering puberty.

    In my humble opinion, evidence both scientific and anecdotal overwhelmingly points to homosexuality being inherent -- not "learned," "conditioned," a "disorder" or a matter of choice. Of course, there are numerous well-written Christian websites that attempt to argue otherwise.

    It might boil down to WHAT you CHOOSE to believe. But I find myself wondering why anyone would want to view homosexuality as a "disorder" or "illness" -- especially when so many gays/lesbians are productive members of society whose sexual preference (like us straights) manifests almost exclusively in the bedroom. It is nobody's business but theirs.

    It's like the abortion debate: Are you anti-abortion? Fine. Just don't have one. Are you anti-gay? Fine. Don't befriend one.

    I always just chalked it up to a guy having a few chick chromosones and/or a chick having a few guy chromosomes........no biggie

    I just want to know why 2 chicks making out is so much hotter than 2 guys......and this notion is gender independent.......everyone (M or F) I know thinks so......

    is it just that chicks are so much hotter than guys in general? even hetro chicks sometimes like making our with other chicks than guys......does that even make sense?

    The thing I can't wrap my head around is the genetics of it. Traits that reduce the likelihood of reproducing (i.e. reduce the likelihood of being passed on) should over time diminish in occurrence unless they are due to a frequently-occurring mutation. Maybe it is due to a set of genes that express as preference for the same sex only in particular combinations?

    well.....everything comes down to genetics. I believe hormonal imbalances are also a player......

    We've ran huge genetic screen between straight and gay people. No indication of a gay gene.

    In my opinion it's down to hormonal imbalances in the brains development during pregnancy, imbalances which are due to chance and happenstance than any preordained genetic input.

    Could be something as simple as X hormone not being produced for whatever reason (blocked channel, you name it).

    An old neighbor of mine used to have German Shepard show dogs ... all 3 were female. I would look out my back window at times and see them humping each other. it is what it is ...

    Do you think if there was a male German shepard present, they would have acted differently?

    I had a dog (no other pets) who would regularly "befriend" a basketball. Do you think my dog was attracted to my basketball or do you think it's more likely that he was simulating heterosexual acts on the basketball?

    BTW, why exactly were you staring out your window at those 3 dogs anyways.....hmmm? :nono:

    Why do you think I became a Patriots fan? Footballs aren't as good for "befriending".....or so I've heard. :D

    Its not clear if it is at all genetic. There isn't any single gay gene we've found, and identical twins have been observed with different sexualities. So natural selection and genetics probably isn't involved.

    As much as I hate to use this example (as the analogy is generic in basis) it could be an error in the reproduction that can't be eliminated - like down syndrome being the result of an extra inherited allele. That error can't be inherited, it's just a chance event where an extra chromosome ends up in the wrong place. Same here, just a structural issue somewhere.

    If it was genetic however, natural selection could still allow this outcome. Group selection is a controversial idea that holds that traits can be selected for even though they may not help the individual. They instead help the group.

    As it pertains to homosexuality, some have argued that gay animals often take the role of an extra caretaker since in those populations everyone having their own kids is too hard to maintain. (takes a whole village to raise a kid and all).

    Thus you have extra adults who can help raise the next generation without focusing on their own kids.

    How the actual gene(s) are passed on (again, if they exist) isnt clear. One explanation I've heard but don't really buy is the following:

    Having a gay uncle means the nephews grow up more often than children without a gay uncle who dont take care of them. Since they are related, the gay gene could be passed on through this nephew (as their parent related to the gay uncle would have it too).

    Group selection is vastly more complicated than that, but it's an interesting idea. The specifics haven't been worked out or even validated however.

    What amazes me is why anyone cares. I mean, what difference does it make? People are what they are for whatever reason or reasons.

    While I support your overall point, the evidence you linked is really, REALLY weak.

    One of them had their association between the cluster of genes at 10% above normal chance.

    In the limited population they observed its practically meaningless

    Biological research is almost hopelessly misleading so often (often on purpose).

    Dr. Collins succinctly reviewed the research on homosexuality and offers the following:

    "An area of particularly strong public interest is the genetic basis of homosexuality. Evidence from twin studies does in fact support the conclusion that heritable factors play a role in male homosexuality. However, the likelihood that the identical twin of a homosexual male will also be gay is about 20% (compared with 2-4 percent of males in the general population), indicating that sexual orientation is genetically influenced but not hardwired by DNA, and that whatever genes are involved represent predispositions, not predeterminations [emphasis added]."

    The heritability estimates for homosexuality is substantially lower than General Cognitive Ability, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, Openness, Aggression and Traditionalism!
