Rick Santorum made up his own Netherlands for political purposes, and the people of the real Netherlands are like "whahhhh?"

Dutch Puzzled by Santorum's False Claim of Forced Euthanasia - NYTimes.com

Rick: Never-never-land is the made-up country in Peter Pan. You can do what you want with that country, even name a ranch after it.

The Netherlands is a real country, and they have the internet machines. You might get fact-checked.

Good lord this guy is an asshat.

Its one thing to be an everyday citizen, maybe even posting on a Poly Message Board, where you can say something off the wall without regard for that actual facts.

It is quite another to be "the leading" candidate of the opposition party, 8 months short of the general election, spouting off flat out falsities.

PFnVA - you had that thread where your Brit friends were commenting on the state of US politics? This is the sh*t we should all be laughing at.

Why should I 'show' you some specific figure I didn't come up with. There are estimates that ~10% of all Dutch were euthanized in 1990. My guess is that the figures from doctors may not be all that reliable since the practice is legal. Especially with cases
    on the edge'.

This is why opponents of the practice call it a slippery slope.

But you are less read than most hopefully Santorum did not refer to your references if he did he would get the dummy hat..

Grappling with Euthanasia... does not mean that they utilize Euthanasia against someone' s free will.

The patients right council report is from 1994... keep googling though.

    From the highly reliable blog..

If I was suffering and death was imminent, I would also consider Euthanasia a blessing as well..

LOL we can count on 13... not for facts or stats, mind you, or for reliable info of any kind... maybe for 18-year-old posts...

But for the actual subject matter, nah not that.

Fact: Nobody wears a bracelet that says "please don't euthenize me."

Fact: 10% of all deaths in the Netherlands have not been demonstrated to be from euthenasia.

Fact: Love America, but when it comes time for me to retire, I hope nobody's succeeded in "making sure our hard earned gilders don't go to taking in liberal Americans" or something. I'd love to at least have the option of living there in retirement, actually enjoying myself w/o the state telling me it's evil to toke up, and when the time comes, making the exit of my choosing.

Anybody who's seen the other kind can get behind that.

Holy sh*t, 13, are you deliberately being obtuse or are your reading comprehension and logic really that bad?

here, I'll try to help you out -- what is it that Santorum stated? Remember, the point of the thread? which led you to claim that Santorum may just be better read than VA?

Think it through, then get back to us.

I was thinking more along the lines of a grade schooler.

Interesting how so many righties claim to be for small government yet want government involved in some of the most personal decisions there are, isn't it?

Vaginal Probes and the like.. the granny state right loves to get involved with intimate lives of folks..

What would happen if prior to a vasectomy that a man had to have a cystoscopy?? What would happen if prior to being prescribed an ED med that the same practice took place??

Then the right would up in arms about invading their personal space..

I saw someone on one of the talking head shows, saying one of the Dems was going to introduce a bill in the state senate where if you wanted viagra you would have to have an anal probe. I'm against it. The right wing might minimize what happens to a bunch of pu$$ies, but I think we should protect the rights even of a$$holes I disagree with.

The Netherlands might be one of the most conservative European states, with a center-right majority in their Parliament, including an anti-Islam party. I guess they're just not conservative enough.

The worst thing about the vaginal probe is that it is not just an unneeded medical procedure, but it is intended as a type of psychological torture.

They want to woman to see the baby right before it happens, so that either she decides not to go through with it, or she is emotionally scarred. It is pretty sick really.

So you've read the abstract-----any idea of what the full paper consists of?

I don't know how familiar you are with medical journals but the "abstract" is often almost totally unrelated to the actual article itself.

I also don't know how familiar you are with Europe, either, since this article comes from Australia.
