Currently we have 11 sacks through 6 games. We're on pace to finish under 30 sacks for the first time since the 2000 season.
If you don't remember the 2000 season, it was the last time that we finished with a losing record (5-11).

Chandler Jones has 5 of the teams 11 sacks. So that's Jones, 5......rest of the New England Patriots, 6. Clearly, someone besides Jones isn't getting the job done.

Its pretty bad when a rookie is showing up everyone else on defense.

and its not just sacks. Ive said it before. Chandler looks like the best player on our defense already.

    No Jersey Selected

I'm still not sure why we didn't at least kick the tires on Carter again.

you cant get sacks if the receivers are geting open in under 2 sec, sacks and pass coverage go hand and hand they have to help each other

We need to invest another high pick on a DE next year.

We need to blitz more. We have 3 LBs who are above average blitzers, yet the Pats rarely blitz.

Since we were getting burned on deep routes yesterday (all day long), I don't think we can blame it on "2 second" routes.

Carter has played one game this season and, so far, as one assisted tackle.

I'll be surprised if he regains last year's form at any point this season.

What really hurt them, IMO, was Fanene not panning out because they don't get much of a pass rush at all from their interior DTs.

It's because Patricia as a DC needs to go, put him back as a LB coach. The problem is not talent like i have said numerous times before because we do have a talented front 7. The problem is just the vanilla defense that Patricia likes to run. This in effect also plays a huge role on why our secondary is just flat out abysmal.

It was more important to draft a run stopping LBer because after all this is a running league now.

When you have a defensive coordinator who seemingly doesn't know what a blitz is, you aren't going to get many sacks when both the starting DTs are run stuffers and the LDE is a rotation of jags & run stuffers.

Spikes should be sent on blitzes a lot more often, as should Mayo at times.

We need to scheme to generate a better pass rush. I don't get why we don't do overload blitzes like the Jets do. Even though it doesn't rack up sacks, it generates pressure, and often times confuses QBs. We know our DBs suck and will give up big plays when we play vanilla, why not do something different?

Rex Ryan & RAC will probably be looking for work at the end of the season, either one of those would take advantage of the front 7s ability.

If it were Rex getting the gig though he would have to shut up and be told he can never call a TO :p

Out of all the things to complain about, you're whining about the Patriots drafting one of their best defenders?

Yeah, that makes sense. Glad to see your priorities are in order.

Matt Patricia has no creativity whats so ever. It's like he's playing real life Madden just choosing a set of plays in a situation, with no modifications or adjustments to get after/confuse the QB. Dude needs to get demoted

Last year through six games, the Pats had only 9 sacks and four of them came week one against the Dolphins (several were in garbage time). This team historically starts out slow in the pressure department and build over the season. Right now, the Pats are two sacks ahead of where they were last year in this department and last year was the highest sack total (40) the Pats have had since 2007.

From here on out Belichick should just say screw it and blitz with Mayo, Hightower or Spikes on every down. Chances are the secondary will just allow completions anyways so why not let the linebackers rush the QB.

Hell if I was Belichick I might even be tempted to send all three at one time on some occasions. And if it doesn't work the QB probably throws it over the middle and the receiver gets yardage, which isn't really any different than what is happening now.

Yes the running back league post was a joke.

How about dialing up a corner or safety blitz once in a while. Launch Ebner in there and see what he can do!

    :D

Have you watched the Jets this season. One of the teams in the league who have had more problems getting to the QB than the Pats are the Jets. The Jets have 9 sacks for the season and they got four of them yesterday (several in garbage time). They don't generate much pressure either. Go to any of the Jets boards and they are all complaining about how the Jets give the opposing QB all day to throw.
