You know me ... I wanted Hillary but she had her chance.
She would get beat up in 2016 because she is an aging woman.
Not fair really ... older man appears wise and an older woman appears older.
It's a horrible stereotype placed upon woman politicians
... we see younger ones but where are the older ones?

You know how, for about 10 years now, we've been hearing all the late night comedians make fun of how old John McCain is? Well, this elderly woman is only 3 1/2 years younger than McCain:

"President Castro" just won't cut it for the baby-boomer generation. He may as well be named Fidel! Perception is very, very important.

Should have changed his name. Next thing ya know, we'll hear about a candidate named Omar Ahmadinejad.:p:D

This would be a great period in time for an Eskimo to come along, God wouldn't it be wonderful to see America's First Eskimo President, I can't go on, just thinking about it is making my eyes water, oh dear God, God Bless Us.

I think it's interesting that the Democrats put diversity front and center. Looking at the history of the world, including Europe, it is clear to me that the more we come to accept our diversity the less likely we are to ever experience the types of problems that the rest of the world has seen. To me, this makes the Democrats a very Christian party in that it really welcomes and accepts everyone, regardless of gender, religion, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. The Democrats have been putting enormous pressure on the Republicans for years to integrate, but as yet that Party has not figured out a way to do.

As far as Hillary goes, I really do hope she runs in 2016. This country will have a hard time voting for a woman--I mean look how underrepresented they are. Look at the attacks that women candidates for office (D and R) in liberal MA experienced. Hillary is that rare woman who might be able to win, and age wears well on women.

I hear Julian Castro is a very effective speaker, but have not actually heard anything yet. The American Hispanic community needs a leader, and maybe he'll take up that mantle.

You're right. Look at how often certain types use Obama's middle name, "Hussein," in a way that's meant to disparage Obama. They'd probably do the same with Castro. But, then again, by the time Castro is ready to run for president, many of the people I'm talking about will be deceased.

Why is a comment like this OK from a moderator (when talking about people who tend to lean republican) but a bannable offense for someone in here talking about people who lean democrat?

Let us all pray just as many liberals as conservatives will be deceased!

Still waiting for your answer, Patters. Why is the above comment OK to say about some groups (i.e. our country's senior citizens, the greatest generation) but not about certain other groups?

I agree that perception is important to a lot of people.

Is it important to you? Would you refuse to vote for him due to his name? (I'd have no problem with it if I thought he were the best candidate)

The way things are looking right now, by the time this guy runs, the country itself might be deceased.

Not for nothing, but when we elect career politicians, should we be at all surprised by the results? I see a lot of the cultured charactors being "groomed" for a career in politics, or for the highest positions in politics, when I feel we should be looking for accomplished citizens instead.
