    Apologies if already posted...

Here is a clip of the game-tying drive and the ensuing kickoff fumble recovery for the game-winning TD in that great Pats/Raiders playoff game in LA during their first Super Bowl run. The video quality is poor, but the memories are not.

    R.I.P., Mosi.

    Regards,
    Chris

shmessy, good followups. I love the shot of Marc Wilson at the 4:25 mark in the Part 3 video, nervously bouncing the ball while awaiting the chance for his final drive.

More oldies/goodies (didn't want to start another thread):

    Bledsoe's 70 passes vs. Minnesota in 1994.

    Chris

Time to Build a Champion, the story of the 1993 Patriots.

This optimisitic piece is a preview of the season after Bill Parcells came onboard. The 2nd half of the video focuses on the Pats players, particularly how Parcells is going to rebuild the D with stalwarts like Andre Tippett, Vincent "The Undertaker" Brown (so far, so good)...

...Chris Singleton (hmmm), Tim Goad (meh), Maurice Hurst (uh oh) and Rod Smith (oy vey!)

    Regards,
    Chris

Better than watchin that BS Playoff Game VS Raiders in 1976 with fanthom roughing QB penalty! Pats would have made superbowl VS my other team Vikes with Fran"Da Man" Tarkenton. Grogan & co had some year!
Guess you can say we got'm back with'ol Tuck Rule lol Gotta Love It!

Great post thanks for the link. That was what our TV picture looked like back in 85. And that was on a good day.

Also Tim Goad was a beast. He played on some terrible teams and always made plays. I would love to have him on the D now.

That 85 Raiders game was when Billy Sullivans son taunted the Raiders postgame and one of them punched him. Matt Millen?

    That game was the high.

The low came shortly after when Bears crushed the Pats. I remember the Pats getting the ball first and scoring a FG. It was all down hill from there.

Bledsoe vs. Favre in 1994 before Favre became FAVRE. Brett leads his team to a go-ahead TD with just over a minute left, but they blew the PAT. Pats drive the field for the FG winner.

jeez, i got pumped up when i saw "scuffle" but i couldn't see much. Had to be crazy Pat Sullivan in the middle of that. As a crazy idiot Irishman myself, I still think his insane decision to start taunting actual football players was our greatest moment until that time.

Remember, we were below Rodney Dangerfield on the respect meter at that time and the Raiders were flat out dirty and had stolen our previous shot at a great season.

    Stupid can be great.

    No Jersey Selected

That really was a pretty good Pats team despite the limitations at QB. Beating the Jets , Raiders and Fins ( in the Orange Bowl!)...all on the road was insane.

They were so unlucky to get to their first SB ever only to have to face the best D in NFL history.

It's hard not to laugh when people complain about the media now being bias for the Patriots, and always talking about how great Belichick and Brady are. Listening to Dick Enberg and Merlin Olson call this game it is a wonder that the Pats were even on the field vs. the awesome Shula and Marino.

Millen hit Sullivan with his helmet blindside. Always a thoughtful guy, Millen.

Poor Howie, just trying to walk into the tunnel after a heartbraking loss and he gets the rat terrier Sullivan barking in one ear and his juiced out underskilled teammate on the other committing assault with a deadly weapon..

Ah, I knew Howie Long (who is from Mass) was in the story some way.

Sullivan deserved that knot on his head.

Media Bias in FAVOR of the Patriots???

I can't even LISTEN to those Patriot-Hating CLOWNS!!

    ***

Yeah, the BEAT DOWN of the Fish was pretty AWESOME, after ~ what? ~ 16 straight losses or so in Miami, and we beat the HEX out'f Miami in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!! :rocker:

And those Mammy fans were SQUEALING!! :D

We may've lost to the Bears two weeks later, but it's not as if we choked or anything: That was just a DEMOLITION...And it was WELL worth it, to break the Miami Curse in STYLE!!

It's kinda funny. When I was a teenager back in the '80s and following the team, I thought that there were the luckiest SOBs to get a far as they did.

But when I look back, a few things stand out....

By any measure, this team was a Top 5 defense (TOs forced, YPP allowed vs the run/pass, sacks, INTs). They were simply dominant.

Offensively they were a Top 10 team in scoring and yardage. They were limited but I think that was a bit by design as they wanted their D to be in good positions for success and win games for them. They ran the ball extremely well.

3/4 of their roster were 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks. They has talent to spare and a 5th rounder (Fred Marion) was a Pro-Bowler. In all they sent I think 7 or 8 players to the Pro-Bowl that year.

In all, I'd put the 1985 Patriots up there are one of the most talented teams in Patriots history.

Any team that makes the Super Bowl with Tony Eason at QB HAS to be good.
