He's not. Selective editing can do wonders for anyone

Thanks for posting this, however. In another year or two, when he learns the system and develops properly, he might get some time behind Brady in the #2 slot.

Hold on a sec - let me put together some College/HS Ryan Leaf highlights, he looks like a keeper.

Seriously, this kid has a LOT of experience and his records at SD State are nothing to discount.

Now does he know as much of the offense as Cassell? Nope - and that's definately a big part of why its Cassell's job to lose. But O'Connell catches up to Cassell in that regard evey practice.

If for some reason they did need to put O'Connell in sooner rather than later I think they'd take advantage of his ability to improvise and run. It wouldn't be the same offense we'd run if Cassell, let alone Brady, were in - but I actually have plenty of confidence that O'Connell could win us a good number of games.

Umm... I was playing along with the OP's comments.

I agree. I don't expect to see him play this year unless something happens to Cassel, but he played very well in College. I just can't imagine him doing anywhere near as well this year. Then again, if he ends up at QB this year, then the team has a LOT more problems to worry about than who is under center.
